I dont think they know true definition of racism. They live in their own world and social circles.

Why do they have to be lying? That could have very well been their experiences. It is *completely* possible that they have never experienced discrimination.

It's so wonderful that many of the black gays interviewed in this piece haven't experienced any racism in the gay community! (Insert side eye here).

Sum Mors, my friend, you buy the beer and I'll pay for dinner! What you just posted was right on the money. I also think it makes them feel empowered, even if it's a lie, to say they don't experience racism because that would mean that they are special/different from the other Blacks, and this type of thing wouldn't happen to them.

If I may add. Notice how some people of color try and hide behind class to distance themselves from racism. Also, in this piece I noticed several people of color feeling empowered to say that they never experience racism. Sad. America is based on racism. If you are not aware of that fact you are in an alternate reality.

what about race obsession. thats even worse. oh look you even black in your name. yeah i dont want to date someone with such hang ups. black men are the most obsessed with race. i have better things to think about. do you even have a thought without race being an element? doubt it.

Where did they find these brainwashed/stepford Black dudes? I guess when you are in White spaces, you pretty much adopt White supremacist attitudes and beliefs. Look at where they live. Same as a lot of Black gay men who live in Chelsea (NYC) or parts of brooklyn. Their proximity to Whiteness changes their attitudes accordingly.

tymcbee probably for the better. is it self accountability. is that the terrible change you refer to. or maybe they start to see beyond their own skin color. or maybe they dont look at the world through an us vs them lens.

I am a straight black female. My white gay male neighbor's boyfriend is racist. That's why I am watching this video. We have lived next to each other for over 5 years, talked and they both met my mom. Today I noticed they left their keys in the front door. I knocked on the door to let them know. I could see them looking through the peep hole and then they locked the door. Really?!

I'm a gay Afro Latino and I've experienced racism on dating apps and in person. I'm always taken aback and other gay POC say that they haven't experienced it. It's everywhere you can't escape it.

Devanté Jones Yes, the key word is sometimes, not all the time. But people will pretend it is okay and they don't even use the word correctly. When you prefer something, it is your type. When you see something outside of your type, sometimes it may be your fancy and work for you. Or maybe not. Preferences are really a euphemism for "exclusions" or "racial requirements". I can see how heterosexuals have such requirements for biological reasons, but people simply dating or having casual sex without threat of pregnancy, I don't see why. It is plainly borne out of socialization or racist indoctrination from media/authorities.

I know this video is sorta dated, this was fringing and bubbling before BLM took off, but this is a very serious question, you've edited down to a five minute video, and you're (the network of this video) being impromptu intrusive on people who are trying to eat/run errands/mind their business, instead of maybe doing it more proper/town hall style etc, you're gonna get milktoast responses, and yes WEHO is very racist, and I say that as a gay black man myself born and raised in Los Angeles, who I don't see race and I'm open to forming friendships/relationships with guys of all races and backgrounds. So yeah.

These people do not know what they are talking about. This is a very deep question that requires deep thought. None of these people come across as critical thinkers. To understand racism you must study what racism is. Racism has nothing to do with preference. Only an ignorant person would mention "racism" and "preference" in the same sentence. All gay people are not racist. However, racism continues to be rampant in the gay community. All White people are not racist, although it remains rampant throughout our society.

Nothing about ageism in the gay community. Why is it always race? Age is just a number. Race is a real thing. If a white guy doesn't want to date a black guy that doesn't make it racism. Get over yourselves. All forms of bigotry is bad.

only Islam is the truth even if we are gay or sinners. if you are a Muslim {a person who believes in one GOD} you will never lose in the afterlife, you will go to heaven and be amongst the chosen people, no one can talk their way into heaven, even if you dont want to follow Islam as a Muslim you can still be a believer, and as long as you belive in islam you will enter heaven, All you have to do is believe

Yes, people have preferences. But saying you don't like dating blacks or Mexicans or Islamic men is not racism. Racism is properly defined as the study of race, hence the binomial composition of the word. The suffix "ism" makes the root word a subject that the user is studying. And even if racism actually meant what the media makes it sound like it means then how does having a preference for one race over another make the user racist when they're not eluding to themselves as being better than anyone else or that any race is, either.

It’s racist to say those things to people or write them on your profile because you have singled them out. You aren’t listing every single thing you aren’t attracted to on your profile. You are not attracted to all white guys, all Mexican guys, etc so why tell Asian guys and black guys you specifically don’t want to receive any messages from them? You receive messages from unattractive white guys all the time but you don’t tell them “ sorry I’m not into ugly guys” “ or sorry I only like guys with green eyes”. You could simply instead put your ideal guy on your profile instead of being negative.

Let unpack this. Why do you have quote a preference? If you are not into a WHOLE RACE OF PEOPLE, why? I bet it is based in STEREOTYPING, and racial biases, thus making it racist. Ever to say I have a preferred race is racist. Hitler had a preferred race. This goes for all races. Color is not a preference. Having a preference for talk, or short, blonde, or brunette, curvy, or slender.. is preference. These attributes can be found across virtually all races. Skin cannot it is specific to a race if people. Drop the crap and call it what it is.
