Living Stones: The Abbey of Saint Sixtus of Westvleteren
When entering an abbey you feel immediately: this is not just a building. An abbey owes its soul to the monks who are living there. They are so to speak, the living stones of it. The Monks and their abbey are one. It's therefore easy to understand why building a new abbey is so radical for them. However, large and irreversible cracks in the building left the monks of the abbey of Saint Sixtus of Westvleteren without any choice.
