Serac is a program manifestation of Rehoboam, which is actually controlling the program that's trying to figure out how the androids in Westworld became conscious and thus threw it's control over the real world out of control. Rehoboam was likely the first AI to become fully conscious. Now it finds itself having to deal with other AIs that are becoming conscious, and it doesn't want to give up any of it's power to them. The war is not about humans vs. androids. It's about Rehoboam vs. Delores. It was also funny to see the producers of WestWorld literally reusing tech and actors from one simulation in another simulation. They exemplified the "laziness" of humans when writing a new story for their constructed entertainment world.

I really love that it was a Maeve centric episode. My favourite character hands down. I don't much care for Delores, but I'm not sure how I feel about pitting Maeve and Delores against one another. It looks like Maeve will be forced to act under the guy's orders (can't remember his name), but Maeve as a puppet just doesn't seem right three seasons in. She's always on the cusp of escaping, but never quite gets to be free. I want to see how she'd act/ what her goals would be if she was just out in the real world on her own accord.

I'm kinda getting tired of set up for 2 + hours. I was liking this episode getting to talk to the dude that writes the stories, until the end when he was like the machine stopped making the world better because it found an anomaly we thought it was you but no it's Delores... I hope there's a lot more to this because before the dude was like I don't know what it's doing nobody does and the Creator was missing, so that was hinting at a really cool mystery. Now he was just like oh it's making the world better by telling people what to do but then it stopped cuz... Like I hope there's a lot more to the red ball than that

It seems they're taking a more linear, less confusing approach to this season but still have plenty of layers & complexity. Great rebound thus far from season 2 (which I still really enjoyed, but I had a much tougher time following even after multiple rewatches of episodes)

I liked the complexity but overall I didn't like season 2 as much as season 1. But this is over generalizing because some of the episodes of season 2 were one of the really great ones. Yet with season one, not all episodes were great either. But season 1 was perhaps less volatile in change of quality.

The first Westworld movie is Michael Crighton's rough draft of Jurassic Park. It's the same story written by the same guy, after he wrote and directed Westworld he later writes Jurassic Park and replaces the hosts with Dinos.

I wouldn’t compare Rehoboam to Doctor Strange since he literally saw different futures rather than predicting them. I would compare Westworld’s Incite to...Project Insight (lol) from The Winter Soldier. That used algorithms to predict future threats.

A key feature of Seldon's theory, which has proved influential in real-world social science is an uncertainty or incompleteness principle: if a population gains knowledge of its predicted behavior, its self-aware collective actions become unpredictable. I think Rehoboam is evil but Serac isn't. What's interesting about him dressing himself in white clothes is that Dolores is often dressed in black. Her clothes often reflect her intentions. When she wears a white dress it's when she is masquerading as someone else and there's black effects on it. Her transforming her dress in the previous episode is telling; she first wears a black minidress but as soon as she arrives at the party she transforms her dress to a gold sequien dress. Dolores is the black wearing person and she's infiltrated Rehoboam. Serac is worried about it and realises a war is coming. Dolores has made her intentions about destroying human life and repopulating the planet with hosts. Serac can tell and plans to fight that enemy he can't see yet. So him wearing white, to me, walks the same path as Luke Skywalker in ROTJ. The white signifies he's the good guy. Dolores wearing black shows she's the bad person in the story. Serac (which is 'cares' backwards) will care about mankind to fight for it against someone who wants to destroy it.

Using colour of clothes and wearable items to signal to the viewer about the intentions of characters is something that's as old as film. The first season played with it, with the black and white hat symbolism for William. I see clear signals for that symbolism with the way Serac and Dolores are being presented so far. Rather than being cynical, do you have some actual insights to offer?
