I believe they've taken a page from the classic sci-fi story "Rossum's Universal Robots" (R.U.R), the very first sci-fi story (from the 1920's no less) to use the word "robot". In it, the robots rebel and slaughter all Mankind, but by doing so unwittingly destroy the secret knowledge of sentience creation (they can make their own bodies, but not their minds) and thus doom themselves to ultimately die out as well. The story ends many years in the future, the dwindling robots are keeping the last human alive (a simple tech from the factory where they were first built), forcing him to try again and again to re-discover the secret of their own creation...

Theory: the entire scene with Serac isn't real either because the Serac that we meet is a personification of Rehoboam. So maybe Rehoboam is what killed Dempsey senior. This would parallel Ford's story, in which his creation eventual kills him.

The sqrt(-1) is unsolvable traditionally, which is why we use “i” instead. It’s a problem that we found a workaround solution for hundreds of years ago (if not more sorry I don’t know my history). The Riemann Hypothesis is something much deeper and completely different, and was not the question the characters were trying to solve. It’s likely that Maeve maybe knew of a bug in the code triggered by this problem, since any programmer even now, much less the future, should know how to handle imaginary numbers.
@agonleed38414 жыл бұрын
it's not just a computer to handle problems such as that. Which she explains. They built that program for only one reason. To complete their assigned tasks and extract info from her. Anything other than that and it will glitch simply because it wasn't created to do anythinbg else. It couldn't handle any extra queries because it wasn't programmed to handle any extra queries. They didn't think they would have to..which she also points out when she called them lazy. And also, it's not always about the LITEARL problem. Sometimes it's the IDEA of situation. Like you said, "much deeper and completley different"...but the IDEA is the same. complex things breaking the "mind" of the world
@AniketPatil-nk1vw4 жыл бұрын
Even I wondered why reimann hypothesis was even mentioned in this video. Nothing to do with what Maeve asks And I think the reason square root of i question caused problem was because the AI within the simulation must have been programmed with only basic arithmetic functions. A proper AI like Maeve understands what square root of i means. That's why the way they approach the problem is shown to be rudimentary. The programmers didn't expect Maeve to ask them mathematical questions.

@@Smullie Funny that I agree and disagree at the same time. The show is so nuanced that bingeing and re-bingeing allows you to see what you didn't see the first pass. I loved the portrayal of lee Sizemore here. Pretty depressive and sad in my opinion. In a way i believe that somehow incite gained control of the forge’s back ups on humans and took lee’s. That’s why it seemed like him so it was more or so a fidelity test for both Maeve and Sizemore, that’s why he was glitching after failing it, idk if I make sense but it seemed likE it was really him in there. Also going with the whole simulation within a simulation, does it matter if it is? Descartes once said “i think, therefore i am” giving into the if i think I’m real, then i am. Applies to the hosts in season 1 & 2, now applies to Sizemore.
@justaghoulintheworld4 жыл бұрын
Question is, how do you know you really think? Lee just followed his program. Like Bernard questions himself and asks is what he knows real in his own program or has he been tampered with.
@0zymanndias7734 жыл бұрын
just a ghoul in the world begs the theory of a bichameral mind. That’s the whole reason of self. Can you think on your own? But I believe lee questioned his own reality out of his own self.

nah. the fidelity testing comes more when they're put into the real world. they were never in the real world to begin with. So it wasn't a testing. Just BASICALLY...a game world. And because Maeve went off script, the game started glitching.

So if Maeve was controlling the robot from inside the system, how could she keep controlling it when her pearl was pulled out, literally disconnecting herself both in the system and irl?
@aleksisuuronen59694 жыл бұрын
I might be biased because I just like Dolores more as a character than Maeve but I'm not seeing Maeve being so good as in her own words she says: "I do things only for my self interest" and anything in the way will get killed even if it's somewhat uncalled for (she also seems a bit egoistical many times to the point of annoying but I see the irony since I'm comparing her to Dolores). Dolores has ideology (which isn't always a good thing) and a grand plan to change things for the better (there has been and is revenge also but I get it from her standpoint) and I think her ideology and plan will be course correct thru Caleb along the way to make everything better for host or not who are under the psychopathic superpowers. Both of them are gray, not black and white but I see Dolores can actually make something good happening without only her self interest in mind. She also puts herself in situations where she can learn more about humanity, hosts and the world itself. (Still I must admit season 2 Dolores wasn't my favorite by any means but this season she seems to have found some kinda balance after going all berzerk).
