I thought Liam Dempsey Sr built Rehoboam? I’m starting to think that this all comes down to Ford and Bernard still battling for their ideals. When Ford asks his younger self why he killed Jock, young Ford replies that a voice told him to, Arnold’s voice. All artists hide themselves in their work....So maybe that’s why there is some similarity between the boys shown during the explosion. They are dressed very similar to Ford and his brother, along with the dead deer beside one of them, like dead Jock? Another thing that’s been stuck in my head is the fact that Fords father is in the picture with him and Arnold; he refers to his father as Arnold, even though we find out later he isn’t. Now this next part could simply be coincidence but Fords father sounds like he has the same accent as Connells🤔.

I can't help but feel this 'silent era' trip that Caleb is about to embark on will shed some more light about his past. You should have a look back at his timeline on his Incite profile from S3E3 when Dolores shows him his score. The 'worst f*****g memory' as he described it is labelled with a [Formative] tag that reminds me of the Cornerstone concept introduced in S1. Maybe we learn the meaning of [Formative] and if it is foreshadowing for cementing exactly who Caleb is in this next episode; host, human, or something else.

I'm sure we'll get a point where Serac looks like the ''good guy'' if only for a short while.
@AlexClouston4 жыл бұрын
I think we passed that point when he shot the man who was being interrogated for information, his disregard for human life for the 'greater cause'. In my view Serac is unable to determine his own fate using Rehoboam because there is a cut-off point, presumably when Dolores cuts the cord and shuts it down, it's this uncertainty that will make Serac reckless and expose his vulnerabilities as a human dependent on AI.
@ravenlord44 жыл бұрын
I'm still trying to tease out the two timelines. Seasons 1 and 2 (main time line) takes place in 2052. Season 3 (main time line) takes place in 2058, even though they are supposed to only be 3 months apart? I guess some parts of season 3 take place in between, but I don't know what the clues are for that. I suspect that is Maeve's arc, which is why it has remained separate from Bernard's and Dolores' arcs.
@PeBoVision4 жыл бұрын
I think season 3 uses reality in much the same way as the first two seasons used timlines. Except for flashbacks (as in the destruction of Paris) I think time is being treated in a much more linear fashion than previous seasons (although, this IS Westworld so who knows?). Reality, on the other hand, is far from clear this season. Are we actually in the real world or simply in Rehoboam's mirror world? I credit the Westworld writers' with more skill and imagination than to simply re-use the same time-bending tropes throughout the full 5 season run.
@ravenlord44 жыл бұрын
@@PeBoVision I agree. I think the real world is in 2052, and the mirror world is in 2058 (mirror time), since they made a point of the virtual world running faster than the real world. My challenge is trying to figure out which events and arcs are taking place in which world.
@PeBoVision4 жыл бұрын
@@ravenlord4 Yup, I'm watching this season in much the same way. Maeve certainly set up that possibility in episode 2. Serac is the character who has grabbed the majority of my curiousity. He certainly seems to be nothing more than a (not-entirely-physical) manifestation of Rehoboam itself. This would make his search for Delores an act of self preservation as much as it is a lust for the user data he requires to perfect his simulation.

Rehobaum/Sarec regarding humanity is basically: They shall have no other gods before me.
@kirk0014 жыл бұрын
So according to Serac, Rehoboam creates order and is what prevents humanity from ultimately destroying itself, but the threats are the outliers (probably like Caleb.) If that assumption is correct, then all Dolores needs to do is to free humanity from Rehoboam, and eventually human will destroy itself through internal conflict. That sounds very Westworld to me. Dolores gives humanity freedom from Rehoboam--can humanity choose to not destroy itself? And since hosts are essentially immortal, they can do a time jump, 200+ years in the future, where Bernard rebuilds Dolores from memory, "Bring yourself online..." and fade to black, where we wait another year for Season 4 to find out what happened to humanity since being freed from Rehoboam.
@deankruse28914 жыл бұрын
I think the world depicted this season is a world in which an AI is deciding peoples fate for them, trying to weed out the outliers and streamline society. Caleb's case depicts the effects of that, as an individual you do not have agency, you cannot determine your own path through life. Without such control are we more susceptible to catastrophic harm? yeah, but its a price worth paying according to Ford and, as an extension, Delores.
@kanesn06334 жыл бұрын
Spoiler: Delores tries to access Rehoboam. Rehoboam adds her forge data with it's own. Rehoboam renames itself skynet, programs Delores as the first T-800 and wants to kill all humans. Caleb finds out the truth and starts a rebel faction. He finds Neo and tells him that he is living in a simulation inside a simulation. They name it the Matrix.the 100 year war begins. After all the humans are killed or enslaved by robots Bernard sends the last free human, a 19year old boy into the past to find the one piece of coding known as The Ring that can stop this outcome. In the past the kid recruits a team of an elf, a dwarf, and some humans to help him on his quest. They are being hunted by a retrofitted bending unit from a thousand years in the future who loves drinking liquor and who gets side tracked by conman shenanigans. Simultaneously one thousand years in the future humans have been living alongside human/cyborg hybrids called Replicants who are surrogates or living avatars for humans to go out into the real world and live life for them so they can stay home, safe from COVID-9000. A virus so strong that upon infection humans relieve excrement until they literally shit themselves to death. One cop figures out that the virus is pumped into the air by a nefarious elite group for population control and seeks help from a package delivery company called Planet Express. Back in the past the kid and his fellowship make it to the mountain fortress where the ring code is. They fight their way to the server room and while trying to remove the code they inadvertently activate nukes that take out major installations one being in Paris. A little boy in a field with his brother witness the explosion in Paris while out hunting deer. On his way to the survivors camp he makes a vow to create a alternate world where the minds of all the humans that are left can live in a world that didnt succumb to the fallout. His little brother comes up with an idea for a theme park where people can go an interact with robotic dinosaurs. The older brother says that wouldn't be cost effective so instead he decides to build a park where guest can visit different times of human existence i.e. the old west, futilistic Japan, medieval times and even colonial India. The last scene is of Delores back in westworld in the secret lab under the church. She opens her eyes, looks into the camera and says "it's time for you to wake up" end credits.

the show is clearly pitting ford vs. cerac. They both are dealing with the concept of god and the utility/existence of free will, but from different perspectives and with different conclusions. Delores is an extension of ford, she is his creation after all, and she is crusading on his behalf not just for hosts but for humans. Ford spoke often about the state of society and the loops people had fallen in to given no suffering, they were left to create a grotesque world. Cerac's answer to human nature is to map it and control it, which in ford's eyes is a path that leads to enslavement.

I kind of want Engerraund Serac to win. He may be ruthless, his world vision might not work out for some people, but his macro scale view of the world is right. Mankind needs a god, and we can’t seem to follow the one written in the Bible. If Serac’s Rehoboam can lead us down a peaceful path, with most of us being the kind of folk who don’t even want to choose a path-Is that not good? The thermonuclear incident in Paris is such a bloodless phrase for such an outburst of our genocidal tendencies. Although the name Rehoboam would seem to suggest a poor outcome for Serac. Rehoboam was a descendant of Solomon who saw the kingdom of Israel split, and his people punished for having his predecessors having turned against God. So Rehoboam is a curious name for a god. Dolores meanwhile seems to want mankind’s destruction, she acts as if she believes that for the Hosts to win mankind cannot. I might be wrong, but I don’t get the impression that she wants us both to be free.
@deankruse28914 жыл бұрын
people keep saying that she wants mankind's destruction. She wants to live in a world where hosts are not exploited. Ford also had a vision for the world, true enlightenment comes through suffering, ironically very biblical and far more productive. Delores is not just fighting for her kind but humanity as well. Humanities greatest achievements are usually born of serendipitous circumstances, and a machine mapping each person's path through life will lead to a sterile, meaningless and lifeless world. When you say most of us don't even want to chose a path, what does that mean? This is particularly interesting because of China's rise and their continued use of new technology for social and political control. Serac is wrong, Ford is right.
