I was told recently that Stelansis / PSA etc are now covering the wet for life so long as the car is serviced by the main dealers . Prior to this update it was for 10 years . I change the oil / filter mid term between services as de-graded oil seems to contribute to degradation of the belt. Expensive but hoping to avoid early issues .We have the 2022 Vauxhall Grandland . Needs to be the 0w 20 B71 2010 spec oil otherwise they will want to charge you.

Whats the material used in the timing belt? It seems to have fibers
@bwautocare9 ай бұрын
According to the Millers Oil website, Manufacturers make timing belts from rubber or an elastomer such as nitrile, neoprene, or polyurethane, and they include reinforcing cords to control the belt tension. They also tend to have an oil resistant coating to improve durability.

Why did you put an old belt back on
@posset517 күн бұрын
As I posted earlier that Stelantsis will cover the belt for life so long as the car is serviced by the dealer so if you change the belt for a aftermarket unproven chain they won't want to know. You can buy a measuring gauge to check for easy signs of swelling which is a pre cursor to failing for about £6 which I think is worth having . Lets face it all cars with belts need then changing but these might be slightly earlier than dry belts . Again good clean oil changes seem to help. All of the videos usually show very poor oil in the sump. I change mine every 4K as I prefer not dealing with dealers with poor customer service which are most I am afraid to say. I owned a BMW motorcycle dealership for almost 30 years so I understand what customer service should be but thin on the ground these days .

@Lightmaker53 ай бұрын
@@nerroworks7562 If you change the oil, you change the oil filter as well. It's the fuel that gets inside the oil over time and destroys the belt. When the belt shows signs of disolve it's already too late you have to change it and clean everything. Take off the oil pan etc. Disaster! Dunno what drunk engineer thought it would be a good idea to put a belt into oil.

9@Lightmaker5 That's the million dollar question that should be asked of PSV. Upon what theory was that design accepted and was there any dissent voices from within R&D ? How should the customer trust ever this manufacturer if they can bring in such blatantly wacky innovation. Or is there a positive side to the design that negates the very obvious drawback. Or was it simply built in to fail?

Good day everyone, I work at Citroen, in short - the engine is fantastic. Go to service every 10000 miles, oil from 2 months 2024 is 5w30, and belts are changed at 82.83 atmospheres at 80000 miles, and turbo 110.130 at 60000 miles, we learned that cars that drive longer distances wear a belt less - means the engine is fantastic. Greeting
@TorCow12343 ай бұрын
Your idea of "fantastic" is diametrically opposed to my own. Maybe it runs fantastically and makes a lot of power for its displacement while returning excellent fuel efficiency (I actually haven't looked at specifications), but mission critical systems being run by a belt that shreds itself, potentially taking out other mission critical systems - means the engine is shit. ...at least in a road-going vehicle that everyday people are apt to count on for everyday transportation duties.
