Really helpful. I teach wet felting and have tried using a variety of balls to mixed success, your info made me see why sometimes investing in better quality works. :-)

You are an excellent teacher and presenter. I just found you via a random 'suggested for you' on KZbin. Subscribing, and will be looking here in US to purchase your book locally. Not a fan of Amazon.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, I’m so pleased you enjoyed the video (and I have a few tutorial videos here on KZbin that you might like too!). I have 2 wet felting books out now, you’ll find them in my Folksy shop (or on Amazon if you want to see more about what’s inside them), the links to everything are below the video. Thanks again and Happy Felting!😁

I like that you have books and on line courses. I was wondering if you can use coarse fibers from sheep that have been raised for food. We don't have many mills in Quebec, Canada and farmers often throw away the woollen fleece, because there is no value for them in trying to use the fleece which is not very soft.
@NatashaSmartTextiles
@NatashaSmartTextiles 10 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! I think the honest answer is that you would need to try out the sheep’s wool and see how it felts. Fibres from different sheep breeds are all different, so it’s only by doing a test that you’d know. So you could try felting a small flat piece of felt with the fibre and see what happens! Good luck!

Check for spinning/weaving guilds in your area. They will know where to source felting supplies, including sheeps wool. I am in Ontario, and I am finding supplies much more abundant than when I started 25 years ago.

I’ve got your first book and the Big Bertha ball. The ball is pumped up to a circumference of 32 inches at the moment, can I really get it to 37 inches? And will that be big enough for a cat cave? Now I can see I need to get your new book after easter 🐰
@NatashaSmartTextiles
@NatashaSmartTextiles 10 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching and buying my book! Yes you should be able to get the Big Bertha ball up to 37”. I’m not sure that size will make a great cat cave though, it will probably still be a bit small (remember your shrinkage is going to be around 25%). I’ve got a cat cave design coming in my new book and for that I used a much larger exercise ball (the yellow one in this video). So yes you might want to wait until book 2! And in the meantime maybe try out your Big Bertha on a large bag, bowl or basket?

Hi, I’m assuming you’re in the US. My first book ‘Wet Felting’ is available now on Amazon, my new book ‘3D Wet Felting’ is available from my UK shop now (the link is in the description below the video). I also have 4 online classes where you can learn wet felting on a ball, again the links are below the description. Hope that helps, thanks for your interest!

Hello Natasha, I want to do your hat and cowl class, but the link above is taking me to 'Living Felt' tutorials, and the pricing is in USD. Is this correct? And just to clarify, once I join, and pay for the class, there is no time limit on it? Thank you.

Hi Marie, I’m glad you managed to sort it out! Yes it’s all in dollars but it will convert to pounds, and the course gives you forever access in your own account area so you can watch and rewatch the videos as much as you like! You might also like to know that I’m working on some kits to go with the course, so do watch my social media or sign up to my newsletter for that. Thanks so much for joining the course, I hope you enjoy it and look forward to seeing you in the class chat!

Where specifically to you get the bowl for the ball in the US?
@NatashaSmartTextiles
@NatashaSmartTextiles 3 ай бұрын
Hi, you don’t need to buy anything expensive, just look for cheap washing-up bowls, plastic tubs, gardening or storage bowls/tubs, things like that. From a cheap homewares store like Walmart or Target. But if you can repurpose kitchen or household bowls you already have, even better! (You’ll just need a bowl smaller than the ball to prop up the ball while you work on it and one bigger than the ball that the ball can sit in for other stages of the process - do have a look at either of my books for more guidance). Hope that helps!
