Be interested to know when you first see nectar. None here in Swansea...yet.

Must be the wettest spring I can remember here in Cornwall, too wet to get into some apiary’s. I have managed to look in a few hives.. the hives checked are booming and pretty much honey bound hence I’ve got to get into them asap … I’m supering as many as I can to relieve space issues but really need to get in and get some space in the broods.

Great to see Andy! We haven’t put many supers on yet but have used wet ones. Currently near to London and things are a lot further ahead here, so much blossom. It’s just rain, floods and mud in Pembs!

Same problem in Ireland, it hasn't stopped raining. Hopefully it'll break soon enough and we can all get around and do something.

The way Andy was pumping that bellows I thought he was going to recreate your how not to be stung video dance. The first small colony could you put a super above the crown board after adding the QE so it's on site ready and they can access the stores to take down rather than feeding syrup/fondant and saves you having to take one next visit?
@gwenyngruffydd5 ай бұрын
Yes you could have done that too. 😊

I feel your pain here in Nova Scotia. It just rained, down poor, more like it for 72 hours straight. March has been really wet, February was not so bad. What kind of weather we get here seems to be the same weather you get several days later as it always exits headed across the Atlantic. Pollen Substitute might not be something you use regularly, but I can see how your bees would benefit because they can not forage for themselves. Let's pray the sun comes out soon.

Yeah, I went with some pollen ready for early splits

Greetings from NZ have you thought about putting a flatdeck on the ranger would fit a heap more gear on ??

I did, but the sealed canopy is really handy when we do food shows. Keeps all the product dry and safe.

Sorry about the wet. We have standing water in the gravel drive but today was dry! Won’t do an inspection until it’s warmer. 12° in Dumfries & Galloway

just had to add 1 super to my 17 hives in birmingham, weather looking really poor for april got 10 days of rain forecast. So it going to put us back at least 2-3 weeks on this point last year I was already starting to plan for nuc splits has I had capped drones by 2nd week of april.
@redflag47815 ай бұрын
Not a single day of dry weather for us on the BBC weather app ...grrrr
@00kennedyp5 ай бұрын
@@redflag4781 same here high of 12 - 13 C and 1 day of dry weather in the next 10 days now. Of course this would be the year we have a bad spring when I convinced myself not to buy in fondant, because I have not used any for the last 2 years.

Great update, thanks. I'm watching the weather forecast daily, and here in Surrey we're looking okay but next week looks miserable for you guys. I hope it's wrong and you can keep ahead of the coming season and able to get the NUC's out on time. BTW, you mentioned the Welsh Black Bee that was being bred by the Beekeeper you took over the Apiary from, are these the ones you're selling in May? Mick
