This is good to know. I ordered a 10x12 Raymar, so anything with a 12" dimension will fit. I got six 9X12 panels, and I have a few 10x12, so I'll be fine. I am finding I like to paint bigger but I worry about handling them in the field. I'm waiting for my Colter palette box easel like a little kid. The big plan is to go to Nahant.

How have you enjoyed it? I'm trying to decide between 8x10 and 9x12.

As it's an election year, political signs can be easily up-cycled into wet panel carriers. It's the same corrugated plastic that the big companies use to make theirs. I just cut with a utility knife and tape together with duct tape. For a quick divider I take chop-sticks from my Chinese carry-out and tape them to the inside of the box. The panels slide in and the cop sticks act as a divider. Not perfect but free and a great way to use stuff that will be thrown into the trash anyway.

I use those too. I always save them. Super glue and the small square strips sold around the dowling area at hardware stores. Fill in with scraps of packing foam.
@junkgirltoo50054 жыл бұрын
I save packing boxes that are a bit bigger than my panels and adapt them with the signs and square dowling. Fun project.
@scotthendersonart4 жыл бұрын
@@junkgirltoo5005 I do that too, also pizza boxes for the small size panels :)

Hi. I just discovered your channel about a week ago when searching for techniques for building a floating frame. I’m a beginner painter doing just acrylics so far. I liked a few enough to frame. I’m going to try some of your techniques for plein air. I’ve painted indoors up to now (except one of the woods from my back deck) Any thoughts on how what you do can apply to acrylics? I may try oils at some point but since I’m just starting I want to figure out this medium first.

Yeah Mike, I'm a lot like you, I like woodworking and painting. On that 20x16 panel carrier. Could you make a 2" block on one end and turn it into a 20x14 .

Cool timing...I’m just about to have my husband make some. We are planning a road trip and I will do several 8x10. We are going to use a plastic ammo can which is the perfect size to hold several. 👍 good review though, thanks!

Looks like their website is raymarart.com (I went to raymar.com and that didn't exist). Looks like they have a new one called "multi." From their site: "Our innovative multi width painting is designed to carry the most popular panel sizes all together. With our patented tiered track design, the multi carrier holds three different widths of panels, not just one like our original single width flat track carriers. The "Multi" is perfect for the artist that likes a variety of sizes when plein air painting." Just wanted those who are interested, to know. I think I'll pick up one of these. I've seen others use this kind of wet panel carrier, but didn't want to get one because I thought they looked flimsy.
@marybois-byrne67293 жыл бұрын
When you say "panel", do you mean that it fits store bought canvas panels AND your diy'ed pumice/gesso boards? Slots are wide enough for either? Thank you.
@petergreen53193 жыл бұрын
Time to do a video on making a raymar inspired design wet carrier yourself . Of course you would be adding some of your own design tweaks to enhance the canvas size versaatility and light weight aspects of the carrier . Perhaps make all materials available at Amazon - Lowes etc. for the ease & budgets of garden variety artisans. With DIY , we can all afford to have a few different sizes on hand . And thanks for your talent , labor & creativity present in your videos : much appreciated .

I’ve been thinking of making some panel carriers using gator board and a hot glue gun. I need a carrier for panorama panels.😊👍

What are your thoughts on creating every painting in 3 different dimensions? (small, med, large) Seems like an efficient method.

Do you mean doing three different sized versions of the same composition?
