The opening is so creepy! Seeing all of the old photos that they used to take of dead family members was such a great touch...And that scene where Nicole Kidman walks up to her daughter who's possessed is one of the best!

I remember my family renting this when it first came out on VHS. I was around ten. The ending freaked the shit outta me, but I always thought the film had charm. Nowadays, with all the "Conjuring" and "Nun" bullshit, I wish ghost stories were half as subtle as "The Others" was. Fantastic movie, and I should really give it another watch this month. Love the intro, love the video, love the review. And I fucking love WWAM!

LOVE this movie...it hit all the right notes when I first saw it, and has on repeat watches. This movie stands up. Agreed, its not like anything else, at least not what I can think of. The atmosphere, storytelling, casting, everything is on point. Agree with J that its like a Grimm fairy tale, too. Your intro was great, too, lol. This year's opening is great! Takes me back to HHM openings of the past like the one with Loomis stabbing the pumpkin from years ago lol. Hits all the WWAM nostalgia! Well done! Happy Halloween Horror Month!

This film came out at such a strange time. Most of, if not all of its contemporaries at the time still can’t measure up to this. But because it’s so incredibly crafted by an incredibly talented foreign filmmaker whose work speaks for itself and it holds up as well all these years later says a lot. Masterpiece in my world.

Even if you've never seen or even dislike Doctor Who The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances is great TV horror full stop. Christopher Eccleston as the second most edgy Doctor vs zombie kids in WW II London during the blitz.

I've had this in the collection for a long time. I believe I've seen a few scenes on TV and you nailed it on the head, at least for me. It's been in the Q for far too long. Great review

To me it had that similar feel to The Changeling. (That was in the 1980s.) It's a really good supernatural scary type movie too.. 👍

Mike! J! It’s a variation of ‘Turn if the Screw’ by Henry James. It’s had a few renditions over the years. ‘Haunting of Bly Manor’ albeit loosely & ‘the Turning’ are a couple recent ones. Another cool haunted house flick that reminds me of it is ‘the Awakening’ from 2013.
