If this movie has been written by more capable writers, it would have been AWESOME if Loomis’s relationship with Jamie had been way more positive. It would have been a great foil to how he wasn’t able to help a young Michael, but is doing his best with Michael’s niece. Since they killed off Rachel, Loomis should have been her support system. Instead they made him a straight psycho.
@millyoneyedeaz13502 жыл бұрын
they needed a magician. The greatest writer in the world couldnt make Lomis and Michael surviving H2 believable. I give em credit for trying, but Michael was clearly burned to ashes, flames shooting through the eyeholes of the mask and all.

@@millyoneyedeaz1350 Michael Myers survives for reasons of a supernatural nature. As for Loomis...it may sound surprising, but lots of guys survived at Pearl Harbor the same way that Loomis is supposed to have survived this. The impact of the explosion literally knocked them clear of the flames. I'd hate to have to depend on it, but it's clearly possible.

This is one of the ones that as a kid I didn't notice how bad it was...and then I got older and when you look at it from that mindset...GOOD GOD its terrible. Its got a couple of great moments, but the bad stuff completely outweigh any good. I would've cared more if it had been Rachel in the chase scene in the woods dying to protect Jamie. You wouldve felt that impact and it would've made sense. Having it be Tina...no. They could've easily swapped out those two moments and kills and it wouldve given the movie that much more weight.
@joen85292 жыл бұрын
If by bad you mean one of the best, I’m right there with you! It rules.
@hshawn002 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree with you more. I too saw this as a kid and thought it was great until I watched it as an adult. I love the look of this film and Tina is one of my favorite characters. I love her live free and I don't give a damn what anyone thinks kind of attitude. However, I agree, they should have swapped the deaths. Jamie was too important to kill off so soon but this wasn't just a sin Halloween 5 would make but many horror sequels with survivors killed them off too early in the next film ( Hello A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 with Christian, KinKaid, and Jamie) Also, I am glad someone pointed out how abusive Loomis was to Jamie. The ending in the house is still hard to watch when he's holding Jamie and taunting Michael with her and Jamie is screaming the most blood curdling screams. It's awful, uncomfortable, and abusive. All of the characters were shitty to poor Jamie in this film.
@travis_mitchell Жыл бұрын
Yeah same! I remember as a kid, it would come on AMC after the 4th, and I was always riding the highs of 4, then 5 starts, and I’m having that weird feeling of “I think I like it.” But I realized as I got older how not good it is.

Hate how people over-hype the original as the best but oh well 🤷

I just can't get past that middle sequence in the car and at the farmhouse... I've never felt like one of these types of movies was so boring for this reason until that seemingly never-ending sequence going to the party. Rachel's death, as much as I think that it hurt the movie to change a focal character like this, is one of the only truly tense sequences in the movie. ...But then, we get The Cops. And those goddamn sound-effects. Ugh. I just can't do it. But don't take this as me dumping on your taste because I still kind of like 6 for some reason.

@@christianc.christian5025After watching the documentary on the making of this movie it bothered me that for one they out ran the car but also Billy getting "hit" was a shocker because he immediately got up afterwards. Growing up, I had no notice if the man in black throughout the movie.......up until the ending so that escape didn't hit me, just Jamie's cry. I don't know, i see where this movie goes wrong but I've also seen how low ranked it is among fans & i just don't see it as that bad. Could go on all day but that's my opinion, but i see your view
@hshawn002 жыл бұрын
I hate when people have no respect for the original. It's not over hype. It's a great movie and without it, there would be no other Halloween movies so it deserves the respect it gets. Also, growing up, I was a young kid when this movie came out and I remember my family watching it at my neighbor's house and it scared me shitless. Halloween deserves the credit it gets. I don't know what era you're from but if you didn't grow up in the 70's then you wouldn't understand it because compared to films of today and after it, it's a pretty simple film with a very simple plot. The power in this film is in the relentless suspense that Carpenter built.
@KingChrisXX2 жыл бұрын
@@hshawn00 i respect you for acknowledging that there ARE other Halloween movies & there isn't just the first one......for that 70s mindset, sure, at the time that would be everyone's favorite movie based on "era". However, i can't say that's it's not better then current day movies just because im not in my 50s. It's definitely at the top but for it be considered the GOAT just because it's "an original" is a little much. Not my opinion, just a gathered response from many reviews. Never checked my demographics but i can't be the only Halloween fan under 45 & not believe any other Halloween movie isn't better than the 1st. Just my take, will look into further reviews of each movie & continue to see how people rank the styles
@hshawn002 жыл бұрын
@@KingChrisXX I don't know what fans you're talking to or what reviews you're reading but in the cirlces I travel in, Halloween is considered the GOAT. The movie created a standard and a blueprint that every slasher film would follow from that point on. Again, people not from that era do not have the same love for the film because they've grown up with far more sophisticated movies. I love all of the Halloween films except for Resurection. That movie has no redeeming qualities. The only movie I might say is as good as the original is David Gordon Green's Halloween 2018. That movie is as perfect as Halloween 1978. Had Rod Zombie spent less time showing why Michael was the way he was, I think his film would may have taken the title. I don't care why he kills. It's more scarier that way. Still, I love Rod Zombie's Halloween for the most part. I respect your opinion, Chris, because I have so much love for horror fans. I just feel the original deserves to be respected.

This is why I always give Halloween 6 credit - it has one of the scariest Michaels, there’s a ton of Halloween holiday atmosphere, and it takes all of the previous sequels and tries to put them all together Child’s Play style including all of Halloween 5’s bad decisions, and that deserves some respect. Erasing sequels/timelines is easy.
@WeWatchedAMovie2 жыл бұрын
YES
@tgriffin3059 Жыл бұрын
Ridiculous. Halloween 5 didn't make bad decisions. Halloween 5 was forged on the same framework that the original Halloween had been....Myers hunting people, and Loomis hunting him. 6 put Michael into an ORGANIZATION...and that makes him an entirely different entity than he had ever been. And the Producer's Cut has the audacity to bring Loomis into the nonsense, as if he were now to participate in the evil. Apparently, the test audience was as disgusted by this as I am, and that's the reason we HAVE the theatrical cut, in the first place.
@CarloisBuriedAlive Жыл бұрын
@@tgriffin3059 Halloween 5 didn’t make bad decisions? Introducing a man in black despite the director having no idea what his relevance would be, having him be written as a co-conspirator with Michael and getting him out of jail, giving Jamie a literal psychic connection with Michael to the point where she’s having visions of what’s he’s actually doing in the moment, killing off one of the best final girls in the franchise and in the process ending Jamie’s last familial link other than Michael….Curse took all of that and actually made a cohesive story that still connected to the ancient Celtic origins of Halloween and allowed Michael to be a knife holding killer while explaining why a man in black would be helping him in the first place and used Jamie for what was left of her after 5.
@tgriffin3059 Жыл бұрын
@@CarloisBuriedAlive The Man in Black played virtually no part in 5. He was merely this phantom-like presence who wandered around Haddonfield. It was only at the end when he surfaced in a tangible way, and I found this a nice change of pace. For once, they didn't try to con you into thinking Michael was dead. There was no real hint that they were 'co-conspirators'...for all we know, Michael might have killed him the second he got sprung...It was left to the imagination, and to the makers of the next film. They could have done a myriad of things...they made the choice they made. As for the psychic connection thing....once they decided that Jamie was NOT going to be the new killer in the series, the ending of 4 had to be explained somehow. Her connection to Michael was obvious, but left nebulous and mysterious, which is for the best, under the circumstances. As for killing off Rachel...I liked her, myself. And I agree with those who would have preferred that her death be swapped with that of Tina. But for me, these movies are all about Michael and Loomis...And Rachel's death did serve the purpose of the director....it was an unsettling thing for audiences. As for Curse forging a 'cohesive' story...a great big dude who always wears a mask and combat boots...impregnates his niece...just the mental image of what that must have looked like, alone, is enough to derail the story...(did he remove the mask? the boots? or just unzip the jump suit and have at it???) She delivers the baby...takes off in a pickup truck...it's like a really skanky Lifetime movie...And that's before we even really get into the identify of the Man in Black....who acted like Rambo in 5, but here just seems like a tired old bureaucrat....and the cult....Sure, there's some good things about 6....I liked the central part, where Myers is stalking the neighborhood, killing and hunting, the way we usually think of him...But I'm still not sure the word 'cohesive' is the term I'd use....
@hshawn00 Жыл бұрын
I completely agree. I've come to love Halloween 6 a lot more in the past few years than when I first saw it. I originally hated it and the theme/score being played with an electronic guitar. Halloween 5 was okay. The ending was great because it left me wanting more on who helped Michael escape leading to Halloween 6 will Michael being part of cult which was interesting.

Micheal got his first mask at a hardware store, in Halloween 2 Ben tramer wore one just like it, in Halloween 4 Micheal gets a new one at a discount store, The mask doesn't bother me because in the Halloween universe it's not a William shatner Mask painted white in the Halloween universe is just a cheap Dollar store mask you know they've been folded, the paints isn't alright right, there really cheap mask like what you find in the dollar store here, I keep that mind as I watch them and it makes sense.

Not even close because Halloween Resurrection is an abysmal movie including the not bad ass 1 liners by Freddie, Freddie isn’t a bad ass, Michael Myers is shown as a joke that Freddie defeats, the unbelievable explanation for why Laurie didn’t kill Michael Myers because a paramedic is dressed in the Michael Myers costume, etc.

0 seconds ago The fact The Boogeyman cried…THE BOOGEYMAN and essence of pure evil…cries…is indescribably awful. Putrid, even. That adds insult to injury because, you know, his freaking EYES were shot out in the second film!

This movie is a shit show plane and simple. The writing is awful, old characters are dumped down, the new characters are beyond annoying, Michael’s a joke, there’s no horror, no tension, no suspense, no fucking Revenge like the title suggested. The mask is the ugliest looking thing I’ve ever seen, and Tina is a horrible person. By the way Mike I have a question will you and Jay ever plan on doing a skit with you wearing my Michael Myers Blood tears mask that I sent you. I think it would be absolutely hilarious if you did and there’s all kinds of jokes Jay could tell while playing Dr Loomis.

What I’ll say, is that despite it being awful, Arguably worse than Resurrection, for me, it’s the last film to have that 80s charm which is sorely missing in the 90s entries. And for that reason, I’ll watch it over H6 and H20 any day.

We don’t know if Rachel was ever going to actually go meet her parents she was contemplating when walking with Tina. She might have stayed? Overall If they wanted to force Jamie to fend for herself they could have just actually just let her take off and meet up with her parents. I loved Rachel. Such a disappointment
@robcressey72282 жыл бұрын
Maybe we got it wrong and this film is a brilliant homage to Brian DePalma. Why is Michael walking like that? Margaret White end of Carrie. Why a Tommy Gun? The Untouchables.The chase scene in the basement, the weird sexual tension of Tina kissing Michael all classic DePalma. Just sayin.

Really the best way to enjoy the idiocy of Halloween 5 is to view it as a stand-alone film and unrelated to 4 or anything else. I can appreciate the acting of Danielle and Donald, I can appreciate the fun the actors had making an 80s slasher, and I can appreciate SOME of the cinematography. But after 1 viewing I’m good for a year.

Absurd. Halloween 5 is the ULTIMATE Halloween sequel...it is forged on the exact same cornerstones that made the original what it was.

When I do my rewatched of Halloween I watch 1,2,4 then alternate following year with 1,2,H20. Halloween 5 is a low rent slasher movie that unfortunately is a Halloween movie

I noticed something about H5.. what's up with the acne problem? Mikey and one of the idiot cops that takes Tina to the tower farm. He is looking in the rear view mirror picking his cheek like Mikey did. His partners like what are you doing? He's like ah I thought then cuts to Michael in the Camaro lol, 🤣

In my opinion Halloween 5 is the worst movie of the whole franchise. Resurrection & RZ H2 were bad either but they were at least entertaining. the only good thing about H5 is crazy loomis 😅.

I'm more bothered by Michael playing with the chain when he is in the jail cell more than him still having his mask on. He spent 15 years staring out of a window. Give him a fidget spinner. Lol

I have seen some of the comments and can i ask, why do some of you fans like this movie? it kinda felt boring to me through out. though i can't lie the opening before he goes into that parot guys house is epic.
@venegarshane2 жыл бұрын
Scary mask. It was the first Michael that was kinda bulky, therefore more intimidating. Setting feels like it’s actually Halloween. Kinda humanizes Michael which most people hate, but I like the fact that Jamie makes him cry. It makes Michael seem unpredictable. It’s like he’s a slave to evil. The chase scene in the Myers house when he chases Jamie was terrifying. Plenty more, but those are just a few

I've always looked at michael crying as a sign that he doesn't necessarily want to kill jamie but is then over powered by whatever it is inside of him , that loomis refers to as the rage . So the tears have never really bothered me .
