Lived in Cleveland during the blizzard, had a "77" Ford Pinto that everyone in the family and friends laughed at my car, we had three vehicles in the house, but I had the last laugh, with the wind chill at -34 degrees, and sitting outdoors, my car was the only one that started (after 5 attempts.........lol)

Lived through that blizzard without power and water for about 2 or 3 days in Bowling Green Ohio. When I went to bed the night of the storm it was in the 60’s and raining. I had no idea what was coming. I was awakened the first morning of the storm because my apartment was literally shaking. When I looked out the window to see what was going on, I though someone had pranked me by spray painting my windows white. Remember walking to the local store to buy food and water after the storm finally broke. Walking down the street to get there I realized that at times I was walking over the tops of cars. No storm has really come remotely close since.

The Bond Court was at E. 6th and St Clair and is now the Westin and rooms are $220 a night. The 1977 storm was bad but nothing compared to the 1978 Blizzard. After those two storms I thought we were going to have a bad snow storm every January.

I have a picture of me shoveling our driveway during that blizzard. I was in high school, my mom or dad took the pic and i was trying to shovel thru a mountain of snowdrift.

midnight rider 1977 Blizzard was bad for Buffalo, NY it snowed everyday in January. City & Schools closed 3 weeks. It was bad because the Country called us SNOW CAPITAL OF USA. We only got visitors because Niagara Falls is close. 1 thing we can count on WHITE XMAS IN BUFFALO

Deborah Saunders I was in that area (Eastern Ohio) 16 years old. Long story short people were warned not to go out. My bf and me we got stuck and had to walk home in a freezing ghost town. JC saved us. No kidding

Apparently, ears were considered unsightly, during the 1970's.

Dr. Paul Briggs lived on Edgewater, so he got less snow than other parts of the city. Therefore, we didn't know until later if we had school or not.

Back when Munie Light( now Cleveland Public Power) got power restored quickly. Why the world in the twenty-first century it takes so long to restore power

I just started to drive when the blizzard arrived. If I could drive in that, I could drive in any conditions.

I'm from columbus, and there were blizzards in Jan 1994 and a worse one in Jan 1996! They closed high school for a week. The weather was worse in 96 than both 77 and 78. The only thing that made the 78 blizzard worse was the LNG shortage (caused by speculators), and diesel trucks didn't work very well in bitter cold back then.
