Loved your video, especially the update I was having that issue, the problem now is that I have an issue with the ink after I filled and put it in I tried to align (a couple of times including cleaning the print head) but I get very little ink any suggestions on what I may have done wrong?

Make sure that the vent plugs are removed. If not the ink won't flow out of the cartridges..

I bought a Epson WF-2850 no ink cartridges installed so going from scratch. It did not come with a USB cord??? What is the process from the beginning with blanks installed?

You will need to initialize the printer with the cartridges that came with the printer. Or take the chips from the initialization cartridges that shipped with the printer, and swap them to the empty cartridges and fill them.

I set everything up they way you said but when I go into the firmware it’s says new version it doesn’t say same version. When I hit the cancel, down, left and power button it said firmware updated with the same prompt that’s on your computer.

@@nikkih7638 you can.. you’d have to have chipless firmware installed before you initialize the printer. To do that you’ll have to install the firmware in update mode out of the box.

As I am trying to update the firmware using the Inkchip firmware program, it keeps popping up with an error message at the end saying, "The printer's firmware was not updated. The firmware update did not complete. Try the following, then click [Retry]. -Ensure that the printer is connected (USB/Wi-Fi/Ethernet) to the computer. -Ensure that the printer is powered on." The firmware on the printer, using the actual printer and not the computer program, it is up to date. The printer is also connected to the internet via WiFi and is also connect to the computer via the USB cable. And the printer is on. Once it gets to the end it will automatically restart the printer, boot back up but then fail through the program. Also, on the Firmware program it is saying there is a new version. What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do different? Any suggestions welcomed. Thank you.

Double check that you downloaded the correct firmware version. Also make sure that you have the USB cable connected.

Worked fine at first then green started printing blue. I brought a new printer and new cartridges, cleaning kits and nothing works. Used one OEM chipped cartridge and 3 chipless cartridges and color corrects. Everything was fine for about a month the the next morning after printing late the night before and color was messed up. I tried everything and nothing fixes.

@@mix.grimcess took me 2 days. But I had to restart everything. And had to download the software for the printer. Also the port for the USB, there's 3 ports. I kept putting it in the fax or phone line port ! Til I saw the hidden solo port. But everything worked smooth after I downloaded the software for the printer. And it gave me the option of connected printer with USB so I clicked thst and redid the steps in this video from where we download the firmware :) hope that kind of helped ?

Can you help me? It won’t download the firmware, usually stops around 83% although once it went to 99% then told me to retry. Gave me the message that “The printer’s firmware was not updated. I got until the cartridges need to be replaced from original to the refillable ones which I just ordered so I won’t know if I’m good until my refillable ones come in. I feel I surpassed the firmware download but I was able to get the activation code and stuff I wonder if that means I’m good then.

So.. I did not see your video until after I read how to do it. I set up my printer with the disc it came with and the ink cartridges. And then it said to just switch out the regular ink cartridges with sublimation in cartridges, which I did. But now they keep printing blank pages and I don't have that chipless firmware I'm not sure if I can get it now that I'm this far into it 😭

ok i got the new WF 2850 machiine and a new laptop tried setting up the printer for the sublimation and i get to step 6 and it says that there is files missing and there is a file that is corrupted and will not run have no clue what to do

This is usually because your Antivirus Program has stripped the archive file. I would delete the activation program and firmware , disable the AV, then try to download and install again. If you are still having issues hit up inkchip.net via email and they will usually replay and walk you through some things.

tried everything so tried to reinstall - deleted everything then went in to reinstall firmware using the buttons on the printer like you showed - issue though is that after it loads the power and fax icon start flashing and never restarts if I get it to turn off when I turn it back on it doesn't show that the firmware was installed any assistant would be great.

It's possible that they updated the chipless firmware version by now. I would try installing and see if you can activate it.

Make sure that the chipless firmware is activated. After you activate the firmware you have to turn the printer off then back on. If it's telling you that the cartridges can't be read, then that means the firmware is not installed correctly. Chipless firmware will make the printer think cartridges are installed even if there are none in the printer.

@@ivorykeys1981 I’ve learned that you can change the EPSON ink cartridges for another type that fits that printer -if you want to use the printer for sublimation instead so there is a video about it. Cleaning the nozzle head as you keep doing it in the maintenance process and testing it to see if it’s working a few times -you can see if the sublimation printer starts working using sublimation ink cause it will be printing dull looking and with steady lines in the final test page.

Make sure that the vent plugs at the rear of the cartridge are removed. If not , the ink will not flow out.

I've heard that it can take up to 15-25 min to install sometimes. How long has.it been at 69 percent? Also make sure that you downloaded the correct firmware version from ink chip

About 6 or 7 minutes then I restart it and really it’s 61 percent. I was thinking because the printer says “file not found “ it was frozen and wasn’t updating anymore

I’ve tried installing the firmware in firmware update mode 3 times now and it keeps saying “new version” instead of “same version”…I also can’t get it to recognize the sublimation ink or Epson ink. Both of them are saying installed incorrectly and wont let me go back to the main screen.

Try to proceed with the new version. It will not recognize no chip cartridges until the firmware is installed correctly.

What happens if the gold pins break when putting in the ink cartridges? Is it fixable? I accidentally left on the plastics tabs because another KZbin video didn’t say to remove them. I wish I would have seen your video before hand.

If you installed chipless firmware already then the pins are deactivated and you don't need them..if not, you should be able to still install chipless Firmware and it'll bypass the error message after it's installed..
