The Yankees are an enormously profitable and successful business enterprise regardless of whether they win or even reach the World Series: 45,000 people at the Stadium every home game. Season Tickets. Merchandise. Cable subscriptions. Streaming service subscriptions. YES network subscriptions. $15 Beer and $11 Hotdogs or whatever they cost now. Exorbitant parking fees. And of course, the most important product for sale is their glorious history which is on full display everywhere and anywhere inside and outside of the Stadium. Like any successful business organization, the Yankees included, their purpose is to make as much money as possible. That’s why they’re in business. That's their raison d'etre. All this other boilerplate about "We must win a World Series Championship, or the season is a failure" mandate is just so much fluff for emotionally overwrought and low information fans. It’s amazing to me that anyone still believes that nonsense. Naive Yankees fans need to detox from the Pinstripe-flavored Kool-Aid and grow up already. These are not your father’s, grandfather’s, great-grandfather’s and possibly your great-great-grandfather’s Yankees. Mickey, Whitey and Yogi aren't coming back any time soon. But on the bright side, at least they’re clean-shaven. NOTHING BIG CHANGES in the Bronx unless and until the organization starts losing some serious money over time.

What the organization fails to realize much like Woolworth Sears Radio Shack Blockbuster Toys R Us. Kmart and all the multitude of companies used to be Giants and are now in a graveyard. What brings the $$$ is the championships. The history matters little if those teams of yesteryear didnt win all those titles. They much like every other greedy company have lost sight with what actually matters. Yes Hal is only focused on profit margins, but over time no one will continue to come thru those doors if they dont end up winning chips. This isnt the marlins this isnt some expansion team, the yanks are part a HUGE part of american sports history. It wont take much longer for people to realize they arent worth the exuberant prices, and the nostalgia of a time none of us were a part of. That will happen sooner than later. No one will sign big tv contracts if they start missing the playoffs consistently, and they relegate their franchise into becoming the Dallas Cowboys where its solely about perception and not about production.

You make a great point. They are like the Kardashions famous for being famous at this point. People visit NYC and oh we are going to see a Yankees game… you know the iconic baseball team. See Statue of Liberty etc. people who buy yankees hats don’t even always know who that team is- it is just a well know, well- regarded symbol. The stadium sells tickets with judge and Cole and this year Soto as the big attractions if people do know an iota about baseball. But winning and certainly not excellence is an afterthought that barely occurs to them as the profits increase. It to me is infuriating and/ or depressing. I want not to care but can’t quite help wanting them to be great again.

Sadly Yankee Stadium & the Yankees are an attraction & will continue to attract fans no matter what, whether die hard or casual fans. Red sox fans are dealing with a similar situation, because the red sox are a big name & fenway park is legendary, the stadium will remain packed and these owners will continue to do as they please and run these teams in shitty fashion because they know no matter what people will show up and spend money.

Gotta push back on Stanton Big G is clutch in October and when hes not there the lineup outside Judge and Soto fall apart. He came back and hes still mashing and getting. RBIs. He makes zero excuses and produces way more than the other guys. Torres since his benching has been much better especially at lead off and I cannot stand Gleybuhh i want him gone. But those two guys are doing their jobs better than the others you listed. Their numbers say so after the deadline and its not me just being a fan.

The Yankees don't and haven't had anyone to manage the IF in quite some time. Volpe is a shy little boy. Before him, IKF was more concentrating on not messing up at SS than anything else. I keep hearing and watching all of these shows with people asking "how" and "why," and pulling their hair out with frustration. This organization has a huge payroll issue and Hal all buy said what his priority is. It's partly Cashman's fault, but more so Hal's! If you remember the Judge signing wouldn't have happened if it was solely up to Cashman. Hal made that call! I can all but guarantee Cashman was warning Hal about all the big contracts he's been green lighting over the past few years, but he didn't listen. Those asking why Cashman still has a job - that's why. They knew what they needed to do at the deadline, but didn't because that payroll would be ridiculous right now if they had. This team is not spending anymore and the goal is to reset the tax threshold! Why is NO ONE highlighting this fact?!
