One of two things usually happens to the gators in a removal. #1 the gator is removed and set free...if it just showed up there and hasn't caused issues and there is not a local overpopulation...which happens but is kind of rare. I think that Disney World did that with a few of the gators in their lakes and waterways, except the one that killed the 2 yo little boy. #2 Kill it If it killed or injured a person, or it has become a "problem child". This could be State or Local wildlife agencies/officers or local contracted hunters. Stomach contents may need to be examined for human remains. Do you want to know how officers are sure that the two caught in this report were not the one that killed the man? Stomach contents. Gator farms are a thing and have been for years. Gator Tail Steak is a real and quite delicious thing as well.

Gators have recovered so well they’re the poster child of the endangered species act. Killing a few gators that have prob been fed and habituated by humans at a popular rec park will have zero affect on the gator pop. The thing about feeding apex predators is, it’s never enough. Almost happened to me. I didn't know better and was casually walking around a nature reserve at dusk, alone in S. Fl. I've lived in Florida most of my life (71) and it amazes me how "snow birds" act around the wildlife. Year after year someone buys a lakefront home with shade trees near the waters edge. They tie out their family dog so it can enjoy the lake view and shade. Gator ends up enjoying the dog for a snack. A woman had some shade trees in her back yard. Nice day she put her toddler in the playpen, not too close to the lake's edge but close enough for the gator to see the kid in the playpen. She heard the baby screaming and got there just in time as the gator collapsed the side of the playpen.

First…. I absolutely DESPISE people making comments that an area is “infested” with a wild animal that is SUPPOSED to live there! If anything, the area surrounding their habitat is infested with humans! Second, I realize this man was in a desperate situation. Most people don’t understand the hardships of being homeless. I have first hand experience on the issue! Regardless, this man knew the risks and chose to ignore them. I’ll no more “blame” the alligator than I will “blame” the man who was killed. When I was in high school, the American alligator was endangered and on the brink of being lost. My generation really started to actively become involved in helping to protect this animal! And this last comment may sound dramatic, but read it with an open mind…. For each and every person who lives in an area where wild life is labeled a “nuisance”, I want you in particular to imagine this situation. I hope I’m alive long enough to see humans become aware that there is alien life that is intelligent, possibly more so than humans. If they show up and start herding humans, wiping humans out like pests, I want to see these same people continue to hold their opinion that being at the top of the food chain justifies how we treat creatures we deem lesser than us!

Won't matter what he think at that point cause the aliens will be running the show. And they may kill for fun for food for territory etc. But rest assured they won't care what humans want. They will have their own problems to deal with. Heck maybe they came here cause another alien race drove them from their home so they came for ours. Also did that gator take that territory from a turtle who took it from a fish who took it from a tadpole who took it from some plankton? Sound familiar? And who attacked who. Seems the man was willing to share the area with the gators but the gator not so much.
