I am so confused by the death caused by this storm.... They were given plenty of time to evacuated to safety and yet there was 44 deaths from this hurricane! PRAYERS GOING OUT TO ALL AFFECTED....😞😞😞
@maggieking6619Ай бұрын
In mountainous areas (which is most of TN, NC, even north GA) rain can create very fast, very destructive flash flooding. And we don't know about it until seconds before. In the US, no one can MAKE you evacuate. My town went thru Katrina. Folks that stayed died. Or swam for 8 hours. But if storm is bad enough, people who did not need to evac died anyway. I had 2 friends 5 miles from the beach, in a brick home, die in their attic. They had no escape vent or axe and drowned in their attic. Water is life AND death. We lost 265 in 2 counties, rural counties. NOLA lost 1500. My heart to all from FL to NC to TN.

Hasnt done this in 100 years. Didnt realize it still could with all the modern drainage and water control systems like the vast amount of dams. That honestly saved a lot more lives than if we hadnt had them. But more are coming so. Lets see what happens…. Im still here. Was accidently outside when the wind forst hit and almost got cryshed a few times before i could get inside. Giant field beside me except several trees right around my place, and couldnt even hear it until it hit those trees. And they instantly snapped and fell towards me and onto the power lines. Idk how i ran fast enough to get out from under it all. But i was also being pelted by anything that was sitting around like lawn chairs and stuff.

Thing about it is insurance companies aren’t going to pay because they won’t consider it a hurricane but flooding therefore only those with federal flood insurance will get a pay out. That’s about 3% of those affected.

Funny. I come from the Appalachians: Vermont, NY state, then Virginia and NC. I moved to Bay St Louis, MS. Katrina destroyed our town. We fled after 8 days. To where you may ask? Sylva, then out near Cherokee. We fled to the highest ridge we found. We returned to MS to rebuild, survived another dozen hurricanes. We are well prepared for flooding and storms here. The mountains are at a huge disadvantage. Even the rich folks at he top....but it will always be dangerous in the bottoms. I wish them all a speedy recovery....water events are incredibly fatal. A foot odf moving water will carry off most vehicles. God Bless

@maggieking6619Ай бұрын
Hmmm, move to the coast. Nope. Move to the Midwest. Nope. Move to CA. Hmmm, nope. Move to anywhere. If we all leave the Gulf, how will you get the gas you need for your truck? Or your new truck? Or fruit or freight? If we all leave the rivers, where do we go? What citiy? What state? Anywhere can be lethal. That is NOT a solution. And the real solution has not been implemented in time, cuz it is just too inconvenient for people, governments and businesses. Welcome to the nightmare. It gets worse.

Wonder what caused the hurricane of 1780 when 22,000 people died in the Lesser Antilles...you know...the strongest, largest storm ever recorded in the hemisphere? Wonder what caused the Galveston hurricane of 1900 in which Washington sent warning and still more than 6000 people died? Hmmm...could it have been all those millions of cars on the roads in 1780 and 1900?? Lmao

I live on the Gulf Coast. I survived Katrina and 32 feet of surge. Although my freinds drown in the attic 6 miles from the water. Our high tides are now closing roads, flooding businesses. The Gulf waters are almost 90 degrees, much higher, sea levels risen, more storms, more rapid intensification. The last 15 years have broken heat/temperature records 14 out of 15. This was the hottest year on record, and it is not over. You choose ignorance and "it is weather, not climate"....we didn't create hurricanes, we just made them worse. With our greed and denial. And now my grandkids will have to deal with it....Good lord, every statistical record is being broken. And y'all still think humans are not at fault? Do windmills give you cancer from the noise? As Trump says? Hey I know, let's drop a nuke in the next hurricane!

@maggieking6619Ай бұрын
@@JamesCrowl TY I am not a religious woman but I am so tired of people judging 1000s of folks by their vengeful, violent God. I lived thru Katrina (in Mississippi) and all the fingers pointing at homosexuality (which is not higher in NOLA than any other major city) for the LEVEES breaking. I guess 35 ft of surge in my town was to punish....who? I believe in religious freedom. But another's freedom stops where MY religious freedom begins. They worship, believe, whatever they want. But that stops at judging strangers living thru a disaster. Their lives just became very difficult. True believers (of any faith) prayed or volunteered to help victims. I have to think that that is what Jesus would want. The Deep South tends towards the hateful, angry and spiteful Lord. My church growing up taught us about Jesus and his love, acceptance, mercy. If we do for the least of us, we do for Jesus. Pure love, joy, serenity and grace are worthy goals, not hate, retribution, fire and eternity in hell are not.
