I shut a job down yesterday......everyone was pissed at me.....but the wall had collapsed once, and although I wasn't in charge....it got shut down, all the big shots got involved, and three hours later the problem was taken care of and we were back to work. I'm glad it wasn't a Boeing job site,!!

this is the same way my brother died 20 years ago the owner just got a 10.000$ fine no jail time. then he promise to pay for my brothers funeral and went back on his word we took him to court but the judge said verbal aggrements are not legal binding.

These people know the rules. Hand them a revolver with one bullet and spin the wheel.

I was a sewer and water laborer for about 3 years did almost an entire subdivision about 60 houses at least plus a bunch of other jobs never once had a trench box boss didn't even have one I got pinned up to my waist once but the hole was only that deep that time. My dad used to do it before me and he almost got buried a few times way deeper than I've ever been boss reached down swooped him out with the bucket right as the whole thing caved in

Unfortunately, it's the cost that stops the erection of shoring. Trench boxes are ok to 8 feet but anything deeper they can fail.
