The shooting stage seems like a part where the light gun "lamp trick" would have helped a lot as a kid. For those that don't know it you hold the light gun barrel to a lamp or some bright light and it thinks you are hitting the target since the targets in NES light gun games are the white squares on the black screen. So by giving the sensor only light you get a hit every time. (I should add this only worked on older model lightguns)

How would it determine _which_ enemy you hit though when there are multiple on the screen?

@@flameshana9 When you would click the sensor would read the flash of white boxes and select the one (or multiple) that were in the center of the sensor. So if screen had multiple enemies then multiple white boxes appeared and it would look at them all and pick the "shoot" in the center. If it wasn't in the center it would ignore it. So if you just flooded the whole sensor with light it would just hit one or a few since it couldn't figure out if you had missed.

Fun fact, the Japanese version of this game is called Mad City and it is significantly easier. The enemies in the American version can take up to 3x the hits, because video game rental was a newer thing.... but illegal in Japan at the time.

Seizures are only caused by specific flashing colors in specific flashing time intervals. They're not caused by just any kind of flashing lights at any interval. There is so much ignorance about what causes seizures, and this would not cause anyone to have a seizure.

Specific patterns of flashing lights, regardless of color, can cause seizures in people, though these patterns are different for different people and there is no one specific intensity that causes it. That's why when testing for photosensitivity they flash lights at lots of different intervals rapidly to see if any of them trigger a response. All that is required is lights flashing at a relatively quick speed. Like flickering 30 times a second in a video game. Me personally, I'm triggered by halogen light tubes when the ballast starts to give and they flicker. Do not give false information on the internet. You are not a doctor. You are not an expert. Do not speak as if you have knowledge on the subject.

As a non-epileptic with neurological problems, this was actually hard to watch. It made me nauseous and nearly triggered my Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I thought I could handle it, but there was way too much flashing and movement. I had no idea just how harsh and frequent it was. Luckily I skipped it in time and only came out of it with a migraine, but it only took a few seconds at a time to make me feel sick. Those with Epilepsy aren't the only ones who suffer with photosensitive triggered neurological issues. Just some educating to potentially help others

Yeah, the Japanese version is actually playable. For anyone wondering, it's called 'Mad City' in Japan, and enemies are slower and take/give half the damage compared to the US version. You also get more bullets in the driving stages.

I like how Arin's usually the one playing, so he's in "oh god this game is hard" mode while Dan is in "neat I'm learning cool shit on my phone, let me share it with you " mode, and then when Dan's at the wheel, Arin's also immediately like "aww sick check out these mangrove trees on my phone"

Arin "scream at people working a job they hate" Hanson, everyone. The job market isn't exactly dripping with living wages right now - some people have to take what they can get. Don't get me wrong, telemarketers are annoying and all, but the idea that nobody forced them to work that job is pretty simplistic. If you've got kids at home or a mountain of debt, "just find a new job" is a really asinine thing to say.
