33km forest loop ride with my Dad! I took my ‘99 Specialized Hardrock, he was on his 2015 Specialized Camber Evo
The trail is in Rotorua, north island of New Zealand

It’s an amazing loop! Some really fun sections that I messed up the camera angle of so they didn’t make the cut, but the scenery and flowy sections were amazing here 🤌

Love rigid bikes! I was wondering why your front and rear tire are different tread? Does this give an advantage to the type of riding you're doing or perhaps you just replaced a worn tire and that was what you had available?

Me too! All of my bikes are rigid haha. I normally run a Maxxis DTH (more of a slick/street tyre) on the rear of this bike, for commuting and some gravel. That way it still rolls fast but with the knobbly Maxxis Ardent up front, it steers well when I go offroad (there are some gravel, grass and muddy detours I tend to take). The increased rolling resistance of the knobbly tyre in the front isn’t that great, as the front carries less weight 👍 It’s something from my teenage Bmx days when some would run a dirt tyre in the front and a slick out back, for a balance of speed and grip. The rear SimWorks Super Yummy in this video was swapped on from my Kona Lava Dome, as I wasn’t sure if the DTH would’ve been sufficient. In hindsight, it would’ve been fine on this trail! Hope this helps 🤙

Quick question: you placed a rubber/plastic coating on your fork legs? (Plastidip was referenced in the video description). If so, to what end?

Yeah, the fork is originally white but I plastidipped it gold. The forks paint was in very good condition, so stripping it to then repaint it would be a bit of a waste. 👍

The stem with the dual clamp? It’s a RideFarr Headspace stem 🤙
