Great video. Can you please clarify though - can these birds fly at all or not? I see a lot of information which states they’re “almost flightless” and I just want some clarification on it. Can the bird take to the air if it absolutely has to, or not? My understanding is that a bird can either fly, or it can’t. In this case it seems the bird possibly can fly but chooses not to, or can’t fly at all? I’m not wondering if the bird can soar like an eagle- it’s clear it can’t, but can it take to the air at all?

It's wikipedia page states that it can "glide when fleeing danger" and that it doesn't have reduced wing size, but it does have reduced flight muscle mass, compared to flying birds. Wings are mostly for display.

Dogs are the bigger threat to Kagu than cats. Now the Crow Honeyeater is definitely treated by cats.
