A bit of advice if you get Sentry mode footage but don't capture the numberplate/licence plate of the offending car: if you pull out the USB stick/flash drive (make sure you turn off sentry mode first), there will be clips leading up to the time you take it out and that might include the information you need. I think Amy had enough time to slowly come to a stop, but the other driver definitely shouldn't have gone either. The only reason that she wouldn't have been able to stop would have been her having bald or going bald tires, which in that case, means she should be getting new tires instead of cruising through yellow lights. Avoidable, yes, her fault, no. The light was yellow when she entered the intersection as most US states are permissive yellow light states (if the light is yellow you can legally enter the intersection). Only 8 states are restrictive yellow. If I were Amy I'd absolutely go to court over this since a ticket on her record will raise her rates and she absolutely didn't do anything illegal by the letter of the law. edit: The business has a 616 area code which is Michigan. Michigan IS a restrictive yellow state (if you CAN safely stop you MUST stop). So the ticket may be legal. Still with the wet conditions she could argue in court that she could not safely stop. Michigan law (MCL 257.612(b)) states that "If the signal exhibits a steady yellow indication, vehicular traffic facing the signal shall stop before entering the nearest crosswalk at the intersection or at a limit line when marked, but if the stop cannot be made in safety, a vehicle may be driven cautiously through the intersection."

There's a channel called Just Rolled Out. I'm amazed at what people are driving on the roads. Cars with the steering rack barely attached. Brakes that they kept on using to the point they aren't there anymore. Yesterday there was an exhaust repair using metal from an old oil filter. Contrast that with this channel - someone put a slight scratch on my tesla in a parking lot. That'll be $2000 to repaint it so it's back to being like off the showroom floor.

Steve in Wales needs to be more tolerant of bicycles on roads. In this case, the cyclist didn’t signal or check for traffic before changing lanes and making a turn - 100% at fault for poor maneuvering here. That said, bicycles are vehicles and they have every right to the road as a car (where there isn’t a designated bike lane/path). At least that’s how it is in the US, dunno about Wales.
@blitzn00dle502 жыл бұрын
That's how it's done in literally every single jurisdiction on the face of the earth. "Cyclists shouldn't be on roads" is a terminally carbrained take; what damage are cyclists capable of? It's like saying knives should be banned but guns should be legal
@CrazyRFGuy2 жыл бұрын
The bike at 5:40 should have signaled but also the car should not have tried to go around. I do not know the law there, but in the usa you are not allowed to do that. the bike is a legal vehicle in the lane of travel the car is in, so you have to follow behind till an appropriate passing area.

#13: I hate when people try to be "polite" and yield their right-of-way. DON'T DO THIS. For the reason in the video, but also because it only makes traffic worse; people expect you to take the right-of-way, and being "nice" only confuses them - so they stop and wait to see what they should do. Also, if anything happens, your failure to yield the right-of-way puts you totally at fault. This behavior is extremely common at 4-way stop signs. It seems like most people don't know how they work. I heard one of the best pieces of advice about driving in traffic from a flight instructor: "Don't be polite. Be predictable." (Some airplanes don't have radios, so the pilots need people to follow the rules, so they can know what to expect. Also, at an airport with a control tower, unusual maneuvers are distracting to air traffic controllers. Distractions are very very bad, in that job.)
@realulli2 жыл бұрын
Those 4-way stops are just bad, IMHO. I'm not sure, but I think most of the rest of the world puts stop signs only on intersections that are particularly accident-prone, and then only on two of the branches. All other intersections have no signs, which means the right-before-left rule applies. This means, everyone gives way to the person coming from the right, or to oncoming traffic if they're turning left themselves. Unfortunatly, this can create a deadlock, e.g. car A wants to turn left, car B is oncoming, car C is coming from the left of car A. That means A has the RoW over C, C has the RoW over B, B has RoW over A. Everyone is waiting. The first one to wave the car he has the right of way over is the hero and resolves the situation. The whole concept works rather well.

How can 'amy' be cited for running a red when it is extremely clear she was forward of the stop line before the light cycled? That's a pretty easy ticket to fight and have dismissed. 4:35 - Yes, that DOES count as a 'hit and run' because the causative vehicle, even though they did not make contact, initiated the collision. OFC, the other driver's horrible driving was just as much a contributing factor but that's for their insurance to deal with. 8:05 - BOTH drivers are at fault. The BMW was moving considerably faster than the flow of traffic (i.e. speeding) and made an unsafe, unsignaled lane change through an intersection (typical BMW, right?). Tesla failed to yield but the BMW had not established the lane so both are equally at fault. It was the car BEHIND the cam vehicle, though, that was the culprit. They pulled out into the BMW's lane and the BMW swerved around it, but then tried to swerve right back, resulting in the collision. 17:25 - As a roadside assistance tech, yes, I see stuff like this quite often. The other day I changed a lady's tire and found three - *THREE* - live rifle bullets (5.7, which is an uncommon caliber) stuck in it. I didn't realize they were live until I pulled one out and found the bullet shoved back into the casing and powder trickling out. I left the other two well enough alone...

The BMW driver was speeding. He wanted to overtake the 2 other cars in front of him that were moving slower (probably within the speed limit). He was coming on the second lane already, the driver that let me in did not get in front of the BMW driver. I did not even notice that he did not signal until now that you mentioned it. I don’t have any news from the insurance company, maybe he did not even filled an insurance claim since the insurance company will most probably decide that we are both at fault. Anyway, after I washed my car the scratch is barely visible.

I doubt that's true everywhere.. putting on your turn signal, starting to leave your lane but never actually leaving it doesn't seem like causing an accident to me (they corrected on the line, didn't even look like it went over the line). Looks like a terrible overreaction by the driver in the middle lane. I can't imagine giving no fault for such a bad knee jerk reaction with the steering wheel lol.
@shwn49222 жыл бұрын
@@1byrdman007 They aren’t 100% at fault, but if that car didn’t start changing lanes into the other car no accident would’ve happened. And in the US, which I believe which is where this took place, that is considered a non-contact hit and run and that car has to stop
@1byrdman0072 жыл бұрын
@@shwn4922 I certainly agree that a non-contact hit and run is possible, but you would need a lawyer in this jurisdiction to determine the specifics (more than just US, state and local laws need considered.) Starting to change lanes is hardly a reason to swerve the way that car did, and I'm guessing a good lawyer would argue very little liability compared to the bad driving from the middle lane driver. If they had actually left their lane into the other person's lane I could see more liability, but driving on the line and then correcting doesn't seem like a huge infraction. The biggest infraction was probably leaving the scene, the scene of an overreacting bad driver lol.
