Two speakers easy to listen thanks to their warm tonality. Evo 4.1 is a little more airy and balanced! To reveal their beautiful character, both need strong amplification (with as much headroom as possible). In the past, I was using a 50w amplifier and it was too anemic to discover the potential of the speakers. Since I use a 150w 8ohm amplifier for the EVO 4.1, they are completely different speakers (more dynamic, with articulate and fast bass and attractive voices) As for the construction and finishes, both are fantastic. I think that the EVO 4.1 is in the class of speakers with a price of thousands of euros. Real veneer cut from the same trunk for the symmetry of the texture between the speakers, small volume but with thick and heavy enclosure (7.8kg), lute shape without resonance.

Thanks for the comparison. I have the 4.1s and after this test am glad I do

The 4.1's. Both are going to benefit adding a decent sub and without question the 4.1's would be the better speaker. From the demo it sounds like it is lacking some lower register but everything else is great albeit maybe a bit forward. The Denton was a no go for me.

EVO 4.1 sounded much better on my system. Strings were nice. 80th is to bright and harsh. Missing bass also. I did not know prices when listening. I use Elac reference DBR62 with class D amp, tube preamp. Thanks for the video.

You campare two different speakers, Denton replicated first Wharfedale speacers and company focused to make speakers match with sounds from this first speacker. It has more warm and lamp sound. On over side EVO 4.1 which produce more clear and high friquency sound with bass, created for new generation. Try to listen Deep Purple or Pink Floyd or Beatles..

They sound muffled. And resonant. And hollow. But these are budget speakers, so no expectations.

Denton 80 nothing like this, I've owned them since 2016. Definitely not resonant, the cabinets are extremely well built and dead to the knock test. I've built more expensive speakers before but I love these.

@@nocturnal1970 That's not what I've heard. Polk Audio Reserve R100 & R200 are impressive for their price, competing with more expensive speakers. Focal Chora 806 and Cabasse Antigua Mc 170 are the other two that sound decent to me, for their price.

@@gg0297 You're listening to a KZbin video but I own them. You have not heard them.

@@nocturnal1970 I'veistened to the 4.2s IRL (really bassy) + the ones I've mentioned, so you are right with the Dentons, I have not heard them. But I've listened to them and the 85th through some high quality recordings, on youtubw. Same sound signature, same conclusion: muffled, rolled off, not enough fidelity and resolution, for my taste. Not my cup of tea.

@@gg0297 You can't judge a speaker via KZbin... It goes through a mic setup by an amateur in a certain room affecting the sound, then through a ADC. The what are you listening to it on going through DAC, amplification and your speaker. Denton is not a dry bright speaker you may like, they are fast and punchy, great bass, mid base and mids with no sibilance. No problems with resolution through my Arcam CDS27 SACD network player and Arcam SA10.amplifier... it sounds wonderful with big deep wide soundstage. With Rega DAC less bass extension but more rhythmic timing but I prefer CDS27.
