Evos have my vote! Much cleaner & more powerful midrange. Just ordered a pair of Evo 4.3s,that look as stunning as they sound in walnut veneer.

Crutchfield has a online speaker compare tool. You can compare the sound of the Denton's to the Evo 4.1 and 4.2's. The Denton's clearly sound brighter but also fuller than both 4.1 and 4.2's. The Evo's sound slightly hollow in comparison, the 4.2's less hollow than the 4.1's. The Denton 85's treble is similar to the Focal Chora 806's, possibly even a touch more present. I have someone next to me who prefers the denton 85's over all of the other speakers in that price range.

Hi friend, thank you for your thoughts. Yes, the evos sound darker, they have an amber effect, who can like it and who doesn't. I also had 4.4, they sound the same in short. for me, they are better than the evos, the sound is fuller, more live, open, the chora shine, they bother more, I listened to them.

Two different speakers. AMT tweeter in Evo, soft dome in Denton. Three way vs two way. I could see some preferring one and some the other. I like the soft dome myself and thought the Dentons would be my choice. 🎵😎👍🏼

The Lintons are a worthier adversary to the Evo 4.2. The Denton though are also good...

@@Vincenzo.M A friend absolutely loves his Denton 85th. He rates it higher than the Evo 4.2 but like the others here, the Dentons are a bit too bright for me for a Wharfedale. But for the price we can get them today, they are well worth it. For those who love the warm britishy sound Wharfedale is known for I will go with the Lintons and Evo 4.2 and the 12.2...

I had the Denton's they were probably the best available today but once you hear them in person they are very bright for a Wharfedale. Too bright for me. I now have the 4.2 for 40 days and I love the huge open soundstage with no brightness but still they sparkle. The Denton sounds boxy at times. I am sure people love the Denton, I did but too bright.

there is a ''trick'' to make the Dentons more refined=you put a '' watt resistor'' of 1 ohm connecting the two [+] binding posts on each speaker [single wired] !!!!

My friend don't worry,there is no need to open the cabinet of the speaker .You use the resistor[it has solid core wires at both ends]as a jumper but only for the [+] posts.For the [-] posts ,you use an ordinary jumper [of the same speaker cable if possible] We 're talking about single wiring . These resistors are easily found at electronics stores and cost 0,50 - 0,80 euros each!!!![1ohm/15 w] Isn't it worth trying it out ?

The Evo are much, much warmer. I like how the Denton look but the Evo 4.2 are much nicer to listen to. Maybe try them with a good recording of Moonlight Sonata....

Hi friend, the evos are more refined than the dentons, the dentons do not have more a live effect, more open and with a greater tewteer angle, in the end they are 2 good speakers both, for what they cost they sound very good. you're kind.

Hello Friend, I have a set of denton 85th as well for less than 1 month, it sounds pretty well so far but I found that your system produces more bass, it sounds more prominent to me and I like it very much. Perhaps it's because of gear matching or my denton still need sometime to run in.

@@TheChin86 Hello friend. The same impression I got, give it time, more than 1 month, they need hours, and you will see how the woofer membrane softens. Place more angled, more in the corner of your wall, then it depends on what you amplify them ... but I tell you that they sound good.

Both would be fine listening, but the nod goes to the Evos. Better overall bass and soundstage. Denton somewhat bright with thinner bass due to cabinet size, I would suspect, also alot cheaper. Heard the Diamond 12.2s and their overall sound more similar to the EVO's than the Dentons but not as clean as the Dentons. Decision must be based on your room characteristics and affordability.

Un po' si,e alto 60cm il diffusore 45,e andiamo a finire ad 1,05..tipo diffusori da pavimento.gia lo avevo, altrimenti secondo me fa 50cm x le evo andavano bene.grazie caro..buona Domenica.

If seated, i have read that the evo's amt driver should be just below ear level for best quality 👍. So, yes the stand is critical in set up!
