Great doco, great history. Unions need to continue to support each other in this tech age, people are screaming about their 'work life balance' and wondering why its gone, people need to learn why it existed in the first place and how people dying at work is still a critical issue for us all. Last week a 36 year old man, leading nuroscientist - filled with stress, supporting his father who became a paraplegic from a surgical mistake, went home feeling unwell, he was dead 40min later. The week before, a truck driver working in unsafe conditions was hit by a car and he died while his truck went up in flames. A couple of years ago a wall collapsed on people while walking along the street. The great work of Union has never been more critical. I think the history with Indonesia also gives leverage to protect the West Papuans - they are being used as slaves and genocided if they dont obey

A very informative and detailed video. I was on the wharf when Menzies 'was melted' - as somebody referred to his funeral service at the time, (and of course the pig iron as mentioned). One thing is very true. The boss was always tying something to downsize the labour.

Fantastic bit of history recorded for the lost future to not understand. It's a shame that as united as they were,( myself having a father and grandfather and an uncle or 3 either seamen, wharfies or both; I grew up on this stuff) The unity was there, but a collective wisdom was never existent. History was and still is reminisced but never studied. The naivety of not recognising the Jesuit Order, (the ruling elites who have infiltrated, destabilized and destroyed all known threats by peasants to inconvenience the masters for centuries) had destroyed the labour movement of Australia in the sixties, removed its PM in '75 and placed its puppets in office to finally destroy unions and then industry. Hawke and Keating were paid handsomely for destroying your future yet the corrupt political party they represent you still pay homage to.

Made in 1988 no one saw Patrick & John Howard coming. Here’s hoping Albo will restore some balance to the industrial relations system. Those poor bloody Indonesian unionists could well have been victims of the 1965 coup when the CIA hit list of 5,000 were murdered by the dictator Sukarno and roughly 1 million Indonesians were killed during the ensuing conflict.
