Hey Monica! I lived in Seattle alone for just barely over $1000 a month last year. Studio 7 in University District has units as low as $1045 (including all utilities which you can use unlimited and never have your monthly cost go up, washer and dryer in unit as well) at 314sq ft. I did this when I first moved to Seattle because I didn't want roommates but my budget was tight! Loving your channel by the way!

I should have done what you did. We currently rent outside of Seattle, north of Bellevue, and for a 725 sq ft 1 bedroom place...we pay $1900 for everything. We have a view of all the mountains and I am close to work, but we could be saving so much. Ughhhhh...why does it have to be so pricey here.
@SilviaWood4 жыл бұрын
@@travelclimb To be fair, you are getting much more space for your money than I was! My place was only 314 square feet and while I was able to make it cozy by adding shelving and getting rid of my giant bed for a futon, it was still not somewhere I'd wanna be forever. Your place sounds great so don't feel down about it! My unit had great window light but I didn't have a view of any mountains like you do!

You should do a video talking about the MFTE housing program that Seattle has! I live in Ballard and my rent is almost $1,000 less than what my apartment should be worth because of this program. I pay $1434, but my apartment usually rents for over $2,200. It's an open one bedroom and it's 644 square feet, plus there are lots of great amenities. In the MFTE the income limit is $57,000 to qualify to live in an MFTE unit. This is a great way for people who make a little less money to be able to live in Seattle!

I've been watching all these videos trying to wrap my head around people's expectations of the living situation around the world. I live in a two bedroom apartment with a small kitchen, tiny bathroom and a separate tiny toilet. I share a room with a 19 year old girl whom I met on Facebook and saw for the first time two days later, when we met with the landlord to sign the lease. The other room is taken by the sweetest 20 year old girl. We all share one closet, I keep my clothes on two shelves and they each have only one cause they say they don't need more space. Me and my roommate pay the equivalent of around $120 per month (it's 450 in the Polish currency), and we have two single beds, two small desks, a coffee table and some pretty limited storage space. It's not ideal, but it works for us and many other people at unis. Dorms are even cheaper, and it blows my mind, when I put that into perspective, that getting a dorm at my uni costs under $100 😮

I live in a studio in northern Beacon Hill Seattle that is 550 square feet and has a private entrance, laundry, dish washer, heated floors, a cool garage door, full kitchen etc. it’s a really nice apartment, it’s $1390. I really love it. Some of these people definitely got a heck of a deal but require to have one or two others with them. For mine for size, location and living alone, my rent is on the low end. I definitely could find cheaper but another thing I love about my apartment is that a designer made it specifically and it’s really well made and my landlords are so awesome. Another thing to consider is that being inner city often times = paying for parking which often times can be closer to $200 a month.
