Closest thing to games with God Hand-like combat style that i know of in the 2020s are Absolver, Sifu and Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. They're not the exact same but people are fortunately having fun with those. And if they're fan of those games, mayhaps they will discover God Hand as well and enjoy it. Could inspire others to make their own spiritual successor to GH. Can warmly recommend Clash: Artifacts of Chaos by the way. Prequel to the Zeno Clash games. Different tone, art direction and is as complex or hard as GH, but it doesn't aim to be an outright spiritual successor either. It's its own beast and enjoyable as it is, beyond the combat alone.

If i may ask, are you indirectly referring to any games in particular? Like Sifu or Absolver. There is a game from 2023 by name of Clash: Artifacts of Chaos (a prequel to the Zeno Clash games) that has some elements that very much remind me of God Hand. It's got a different art direction, tone, humor and structure to GH but hasn't advertised it to be an outright spiritual sequel either. It's its own thing and has fun stuff to offer. To describe some stuff: Main character Pseudo can have two Stances two switch between and three Special Attacks for different button inputs (Special, Special + Forwards and Special + Backwards) assigned to him at once. All Stances consist of - A combo string - An attack from a Jump - An attack from a Run - An attack from a Charge - An attack from a Forward Dodge - An attack from a sideways Dodge - An attack from a Backwards Dodge And all of them have wholly different animation movesets and purposes. On top of this, here's the following mechanics that are always available: - Animation canceling. When you input a new non-combo string attack the *moment* your previous attack makes contact with an enemy, the animation is canceled and the new attack comes out quicker. - A quick Defense move. Defending correctly builds up the Super Meter. Enemies that hit you while you Defend will move slower for a few seconds, *and* can be use to return projectiles. The reverse counts too: Hitting an enemy while it's guarding makes your animation go slower upon contact. - The Super Meter. Filling this up puts you in a First Person perspective (callback to Zeno Clash 1 and 2). If you deal enough damage in the Super perspective, it will lead into a generally enemy-unique Finisher animation. Beware: You can get hit *out* of the super mode - The Guard Meter. This thing depletes every time you attack, receive damage, jump or run. Recharges on its own after a second or two. As long as there's even a *little* bit of meter left in the Guard Meter, you will receive 50% less damage and less stun from an incoming enemy attack Here's some values on the starter stances - Slash Stance tends to keep a low profile in its animations and hits in wide sweeps that aren't as powerful as most other stances. - Boxing is the solid allrounder - Spear Stance has the furthest range of all Stances, quite slow startup, but supplies high concentrated damage. Some unlockable Stances are: - Mammoth Stance. Raw unga bunga power stance. Slow, but the hardest-hitting of all Stances. Focus on double haymakers, elbows and a fan-favourite dropkick (attack from a run) - Lightning Stance. Some speedy, powerful Muay Thai type stuff. Kinda like boxing, but quicker - Corwid Stance. For the absolute maniacs among us who like headbutts, weird movements and floppy slaps. Also noted for having a backwards dodge attack that makes DISTANCE and springs back for a kick immediately. There's two more stances to make for eight total, and about the same amount of special moves. These range from an uppercut, to a crouch-into-a-jumping-kick, to a DASH that leads into five rapid hits which can be chained into two more five-rapid-hits, a teleport, a projectile and something called a Clone Punch (a quick jump backwards that leaves a wooden mannequin in your place to hit an enemy that comes near). A good combat system isn't worth much without good enemies, which Clash: AoC does have. Funnily enough, a significant subset of enemies, the Mercenaries, are never encountered in duplicates. Any enemy within this subset that you fight is its own individual with its own moveset. But your encounters with them are in different team-ups. The Zeno Clash games have a fairly grounded setting, hence why this is. Team-ups can range from two at minimum, to in rare instances, four. And in rarer instances even five. There's two other subsets of such enemies (the Wandering Players and the Corwids of the Free) as well as general wildlife. Mind, Clash: AoC's structure isn't as Arcade-like and purely combat-focused as God Hand. Probably not nearly as difficult either, not even on NG+. But can still provide a decent challenge for most. I warmly recommend it.

@jurtheorc81173 ай бұрын
@@Kerunou Are you saying the games I mentioned are not Alexander? Why I oughta granny smack you for that, son. Kidding aside, I wouldn't say they have nothing in common with God Hand. They're 3D beat-em-ups, Sifu and Absolver seem to come the closest in challenge, and both Absolver and Clash have a mechanic of customizing one's own fighting style/inputs, even if to a lighter degree than GH. (Clash's i detailed extensively) I'll grant you that there's great differences in tone and art direction, and probably in specifics in mechanics. LVL Die and the Roulette Wheel, for more obvious examples. Sifu of course not having the moveset assigning but still a lot of offensive/evasive options.) But still, in terms of gameplay and 3D presentation, these are the closest things to God Hand out at the moment that I can think of. I assume you're a really big God Hand fan and I do hope that sometime, someday, there will be a game that's much closer to its inspiration source than Absolver, Sifu and Clash: AoC to satisfy you. I'd be up for seeing that too, and clearly many others do as well. So, that's my reasoning. Hope you can see where i'm coming from even if you disagree. I'm sure you have better things to do with your time than argue with someone in a comment section over a video game. Have a good one.
