There are lots of condominium & apartment houses at the outskirts of the city like Ayat, Tafo, CMC, Bole Arabsa, Sumit, Gelan and others. The condos are built by government and then transferred to residents by lottery form based on their savings (10/90, 80/20 or 40/60). On the other hand, there are apartments that are built either personally or in a group while the government facilitate land. Hope you will visit them one day.

To clarify more this condo's are part of a lottery program organized by the government. Anyone can participate in the lottery (regardless of owning another home) each year the government awards 20k condos. It's not totally free, a winner ought to make a payment over a long-term period. For those people who already own a home they would just rent it and make profit or even sell it. Hope it's clear now

In Gerjie, this type of condo, 2 bedrooms, was 2 years ago, todays value, B15000,- (€280,-). Then again, Gerjie is ‘fashionable’ and central. I moved to Ayat. Bought modern, spacious, 3 bedroom + housekeeper’s room, 3 bathroom, NOA appt for , 3 years ago, €110.000,- Far away. Difficult transportation. Apparently nowadays so advertising shows me, these types are worth a lot more. I don’t get that because the economy is flat on it’s back due civil war and political turmoil. Everything is so expensive in Ethiopia. Bank exchange €1 = B57 Black market €1 = B82. MAD 😠. No open market. Investors, and tourists, are staying away. What will the near future bring ?😮

Better than living on the street /tent. leasing out/rent out government houses/condos should be illigal. It is unfair to the unhomed, especially with children. Lotto winer should sign that she/ he doesn't own other property nor will lease any other property. Heffty penalty, including jail. I didnt see a wifi cable coming in to the room, very important for content creator. Abado condos is too far to have a wonderful evening in the city, then rush quickly to ur bed. I heard govt condo securities have rigid and strict compound gate procedures that r upsetting and brokers dont tell u about it when u rent.

200 Dollar is enough for one bed room condos in the city for instance around Gerji area.however, 2 and 3 bed room condos are a little expencive that may be upto 400$(15000-20000)per month.
