👩🏻‍🦰 A B O U T M E:
Ashley has had a passion for plants since she was a small child. In the long summers as a child, she would garden alongside her grandmother and it was then that she realized her love for greenery. With years of great studying, Ashley had begun her post-secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan.
At first, her second love, animals, was the career path she chose but while doing her undergrad she realized that her education would take her elsewhere. And with that, four years later she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor's degree in science and a major in Soil Science.
Some of Ashley's interests are KZbin, in which she posts informative videos about plants and gardening. The focus of Ashley's KZbin channel is to bring science to gardening in a way that is informative but also helpful to others learning to garden. She also talks about the importance of having your own garden and the joys of gardening indoors. Ashley continues to study plants in her free time and hopes to expand her KZbin channel as well as her reach to up-and-coming gardeners.

I would pay to talk to you. Seriously. I’ve never done anything like that before, I’m just a stay at home mom on my first year gardening but I’ve followed you for months now and built my first garden with YOUR guidance and I would pay $100 just to ask you questions and really just chat for like an hour lol. That may not be much for “consulting” but I have Tourette’s and can’t work but I’d make that money appear to support you by paying for your expertise. Much love from NC! Also, my mom, sis and niece are redheads and you’re amazing!

Dear Ashley, you say we were here for you, but you were here for us when the world went crazy and we needed to throw ourselves into a wholesome activity that nourished our bodies and fed our souls. Remember (not that you will) you saved my tomato crop and showed me how to ripen 60 lbs of green tomatoes in newspaper layered cardboard boxes. That was a real gift. Congrats on your channel. @@GardeningInCanada Honestly, the fact that you're one of the VERY FEW gardeners on here that's actually in a cold zone is a big deal. I'm a guy (almost 40) and was thinking of starting a channel myself because even though lots of gardening channels have loads of useful tips... 99% of them are located in much warmer zones and not useful for me. I'm in Northern Ontario (a cusp of 3b/4a) and I LOVE your honesty and content.

Ashley, I''m sorry for loss. I don't really know what to say in response to your heartfelt message except, congratulations on 100K and thank YOU. ❤I became a subscriber because you always try to come at gardening from a scientific position but still remain open enough to acknowledge that some folk wisdom has merit too. Another commenter said something that I emphatically echo: don't feel apologetic for just being you. None of the things you mentioned - being nerdy, redheaded, or big - are negative in my book. You're a very pretty woman who's smart and knows your stuff. The haters only ridicule you because they are jealous of that.

EMBRACE THE HATERS! I watch another KZbin channel by a guy named Casey LaDelle. His philosophy is that haters are part of the engagement metrics KZbin uses to determine "compensation" so the more the haters post, the greater his income from the channel. In fact, he actively uses his videos to goad the haters in order to increase his metrics. In other words, use what seems like a negative and turn it to your advantage. Even if you don't encourage your haters, at least see the positive side.

My beautiful sweet Ashley, ❤️ I am so touched and feel so connected to your spirit right now. My mother was an addict, my grandmother lived with us. Mum had butterflies everywhere…the ultimate symbol of change and new beginnings. Brass ones over the fireplace, wooden ones in every colour along the fence line…just everywhere. 🦋 mum dropped dead a week after her 51st birthday, I was 26. My grandma died almost 1 yr later. February and January respectively. Winters have been eternally rough since then. But my solace came in the springs in the garden. I am outside tending or working on/with something most waking moments. It is my love, and my joy. Oh how I want to be able to wrap my arms around you. You are cherished ❤️🦋🌺. Your delivery is infectious in the most wonderful way possible!!! I’ve been gardening for most of my life. I love it. It is my therapy. I’m about to lose the ability to garden and I’m terrified at the thought. I will be getting a Bone Marrow Transplant… can’t garden due to possible fungal infection. This will be for a year at least… after that will be done with an N-95 mask and serious gloves if I’m permitted. Gardening has ALWAYS made things better. So I will be watching all my favorite You Tube Gardeners like you to vicariously get my fix! Hah I’m so grateful to you and your channel😊

Honesty and being real is more important in growing a community around a topic you love. Flashy production and other eye candy only go so far if you dont help people and show a real love of the channels topic. Keep doing what your doing, have fun and be yourself, its worked so far and will likely keep working.

I don’t know how long ago but it was awhile - I was trying to learn how to deal with my clay. You came up in the search. You were so serious and delivered very detailed scientific info. I thought it was cool. Later on I came to visit you again and you had loosened up quite a bit. You were laughing and smiling. I was so amazed at your evolution. Congratulations on the 100k. And you totally rock the awkward intelligent tall redhead. ❤

Thank you for all the work you put into this channel. GIC fills a gap in the KZbin gardening sphere. It took me a few episodes to understand what soil science is about and why it is important and how it will help me in my garden. Beyond the content, your “ lessons” are so down to earth😉, you explain the tech terms clearly, and ways we can apply the “lesson” to our garden. Keep being you, and be sure to take time off for yourself so you don’t burn yourself out. Congratulations on your many personal and professional success in dealing the challenges thrown your way…. You are an inspiration on many levels. 100k is Very well deserved.🏆🥇🏅
