If you brought back a modern textbook on mathematics and science and studied enough you could definitely be hailed as a revolutionary in certain fields. But the average person today isn't actually much smarter or more retaining of knowledge than people 200 years ago. You very likely have a not too distant relative from that general time period. You could have give advice that would prove helpful in the long term like always washing hands and other stuff. Earning the gold in 1800s vs taking it with you to 1800s wouldnt matter. Gold in 1800 is still gold in 1800. And you can't simply NOT go back in time and have the gold, since that's against the whole point of the question lol 1850 value of gold per troy ounce was $30.67. Suitcases depending on chosen size can capably fit over 1,000 lbs of pure gold inside. 1,000lbs = 14,583.333 troy ounces = $301,437.43 of 1800s money. You'd be set up quite well even bringing 10%/30k worth of that gold to have it be more transportable, since a dollar back then would have had the purchasing power of 20~30$ today depending if you want start of 1800s or around 1850. Value of gold was less with 20$ per troy Oz in 1800, but the dollar was also less inflated so the purchasing power wouldve been mostly the same. Fun discovery, aluminum in year of 1800 would actually be more valuable per ounce vs gold since it wasn't as mass produced yet. So yeah just get a suitcase of aluminum instead I guess

But in short, there is a loophole in the ticket system on youtube that hackers are taking advantage of, granting access to your account. They leave comments using your account, and sometimes even hijack a channel and start uploading on it as if it was their own. Interaction with those comments might not %100 confirm that you will be hacked. But it is a vulnurability, and needs to be treated with due diligence. Slightly related side note : I was in woddy's twitch stream a week or so ago and saw SomeOrdinaryGamers in the chat, saying chiz hit him up to be on the show. they never actually did the thought experiment lol, they just talked about ways to get rich with time travel, and thats a really easy thought experiment. picking 3 items to be stuck with is genuinely a hard thought experiment. a ton of gold is an obvious one, but i genuinely cant think of 2 other items. others have said a laptop with a solar charger and huge external hardrive with all kinds of relevant information on resource deposits and inventions. thats a pretty good one, but then all of your eggs are in one basket. imagine you beam to the past, instantly trip on a log and bust the computer... also i think the thought experiment is about being stuck there, not being able to go back and forth to whatever time you want.

The things I could do in 1800 or even 1900. I know enough about machining, chemistry and other random shit the items would almost be inconsequential. Id take a geological survey map for oil, one for gold and id take a notebook of random technical data id need to build certain things.
