The first questioner asked about fiscal and monetary policy. Interesting choice by CBC, considering Justin's recent monetary policy gaff. And... we all know Justin's real answers. Fiscal Policy: "The budget will balance itself". Monetary Policy: "Forgive me if I don't think much about monetary policy".

@@kazimahbub7456 The Government of Canada determines the Bank of Canada's mandate. The Bank of Canada then executes on that mandate. The Bank of Canada don't "set monetary policy", they implement the policy that is set for them by government. The entire "I don't think about monetary policy" thing grew out of a journalist asking Justin about exactly this issue - a review of monetary policy is coming in the near future, the government will determine that policy, and what does he think that review might entail? To which he replied "... don't think about monetary policy". He has to think about monetary policy to review the BoC mandate! Go back to econ class blah blah yadda yadda. Foolish.

@@bruisedpumpkin the problem with your reply is this 1 taxpayer 1 tax dollar I worked in a big multinational for over 25 years and they liked word salad too. There is a finite amount of money, the drama teacher spends it with little regard for the citizens of this nation. Yes the bank of Canada tries to keep inflation in check, interest rates stable etc. but when your countries so called leader/party wastes it on bad foreign aid, (2 billion to Pakistan as 1 example) ridiculous social safety nets then things like inflation are in jeopardy as we print more money and tax more severely to accommodate the governments voracious appetite for tax dollars for pet projects, and servicing an unsustainable debt, you think fiscal policy will remain stable? Interest rates will rise as surely as inflation is doing so now. Add the extra burden of a ridiculous carbon tax and the citizens of this once great country will be wondering what happened to the standard of living they became so used to.

We have someone running that doesn’t think monetary policy impacts families but is predicating his platform on making life more affordable. From my understanding of what economists are believing, the rise in inflation is largely due to covid and isn’t currently caused that much by our monetary policy. Mostly getting my informatIon from the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy (supposedly independent). I agree it’s a topic that should be looked at though cause honestly everything is just too expensive these days but I understand where his answer is coming from. Seems liberals are focused on other economic metrics that impact families than just inflation (e.g. housing, cost of childcare, poverty, unemployment etc.). FYI, I have no family of my own and am an undecided voter. Just wanted to share what I’ve learned based on my own research.

Maybe people wouldn’t need subsidized child care and all these government programs if they weren’t being taxed so much and their money losing purchasing power at the rate that it is. I encourage you to visit statcan and research the increases in consumer prices for yourself, the government leaves all the data in plain sight.

How disappointing. I so thoroughly enjoyed yesterday's Face-to-Face because Rosemary Barton asked that hard questions and didn't let Erin O'Toole go off on his talking points without challenging. She made him come off his script and interrupted him when he was off on a canned speech. I felt that she helped me get a true view of who Erin O'Toole is. In contrast today, she is asking leading questions and has done nothing but stroke Prime Minister Trudeau's hair. There hasn't been one interruption or true challenge. I can't even finish watching today. Hopefully, she will be a journalist again tomorrow when she interviews Mr. Singh.
