Most don’t know (unless they watch old variety shows from the 60’s, like Carol Burnett 😁) that Don Adams’ nasally trademark “Sorry about that!” Maxwell Smart/Inspector Gadget voice actually came from his nightclub-comic routine, where he did his impression of William Powell from the “Thin Man” mysteries.

Every once in a blue moon something will happen at the office that gives me the opportunity to break the tension with "Zis is KAOS! Ve do not 'shush' here!" or other lines from the show. I was a little surprised you didn't have the classic bit of The Claw correcting Maxwell's pronunciation of his name: "No, not Craw! Craw!"

So wonderful to see someone so young enjoying the classic stuff! Especially, “Get Smart”! (Especially my favorite episode, “One of Our Olives is Missing”! Gotta love Carol Burnett in this one!) Have you ever watched/reacted to, “The Munsters”? “Gilligan’s Island”? “F-Troop”? Also… How about, “Get Smart Again”? TV reunion flick with the surviving main cast, done in the late ‘80’s! Would you believe it’s an absolute masterpiece? How about the greatest TV reunion flick ever? How about a lot of fun, & nostalgia! Hope you get to check em all out! Best regards! 😁😆😀

In the 70s Mel Brooks co-created another TV series, "When Things Were Rotten." It was a parody of the Robin Hood legend. Bernie Kopell played Alan-O-Dale, The actor who played the robot Hymie on "Get Smart" played Robin Hood. 18 years later Brooks would have another go with Robin Hood with the film "Robin Hood: Men in Tights."

Get Smart was ground breaking. There was nothing like it on TV with that type of humour. It's so wacky at times, I'm amazed they got a deal in those days. That's Mel Brooks for ya.

In 1998 or '99 (hmm, surely must have been '99), some cable channel had a round-the-clock Get Smart marathon one weekend, and I spent that whole weekend on the couch watching this and drifting in and out of sleep. And loving it!! One of the best weekends of my life.

The Olive episode featured Carole Burnett who later had her own variety show "The Carole Burnett Show". You'd love her many skits of "Eunice, Ed and Mama" they are so hilarious!! It eventually became a spinoff called "Mama's Family" but i love the originals best.

It was wonderful to see Carol and the rest of the guys play this episode out like a sketch from her show. When I was a young kid, there was the Carol Burnett Show and the Danny Kaye Show. My Dad and I watched both of them of an evening. It was such a great time full of laughter after dinner. If you have a moment, watch some of Danny Kaye's movies. I recommend the 'Court Jester'. Classic lines that still resonate to this day.

They used several cars in this series: In the opening scenes, you had a Sunbeam Tiger (red), a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible (blue), and a Opel GT (gold). However, there were a few others: a Shelby GT500 KR convertible was used in one or two eposides (red/white), as well as a Porsche 914/6 (dark blue - and you only caught the side of it through an open door). My favorite episodes: the one featuring Larry Storch as the Kaos killer, the Groovy Guru, the episode with Don Rickles, the episode that was a ripoff of the rival series "I-Spy" (which, if you haven't seen that series, you MUST!!!), and several of the episodes with Sigfried: one in which he operated a P.O.W. camp for captured Control agents, another where he had an island in the South Pacific, and was going to hijack Naval ships with a giant electro-magnet, and another where he was using a WW-1 Fokker bi-plane as a crop duster, to destroy our food supply. Hilarious.

Thanks for the memories. I don't remember Carol Burnett being in an episode. Classic stuff. There will always be evil and good in the world until Jesus Christ returns. Until then... "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: 40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; 41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins." Acts 10:38-43. Peace...

@alberte.mcdowell32 жыл бұрын
Yeah I never liked the movie Get Smart (2008) because I thought it was an down grade from the show. The 1960s had a lot of great shows because the studios took advantage of the comedy, spy, drama and the coloration. There was this Batman, Star Trek, Green Hornet, and Gilligan's Island.
@TearyEyesAnderson2 жыл бұрын
I always enjoyed Get Smart, its UK comicstrip, the comic book series, and even the 9 William Johnston tie-in novels from the 1960's. 'The Nude Bomb' film, 'Get Smart Again', and the 1995 revival show were also okay, but I didn't like the 2008 Steve Carell film, or its spin off "Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd". Although I did like Steve Carell in the "Despicable Me"/Minions movies. Just like I liked Don Adams in "Inspector Gadget", I like to think that after a failed mission Max gets blown to bits and becomes "Inspector Gadget", and it is the same Chief that he gets to torment. After hearing the song "99 Ways {To make you my man}" by Jane Wiedlin, I've always thought of that as 99's and Max's relationship. I even made a mash-up video of the song and clips from the series. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKa9knWZa8aJm9E This isn't the original version I made, but a reupload with proper credits, that someone else added. My version got deleted, and that channel got deleted for using the song.
