It's not a bad cliffhanger, it's a perfectly evil cliffhanger. They already announced the second half of season 1 comes in July. The rest of this arc is going to be non stop cliffhangers. It's a rather long arc with their lives constantly in danger. This is by far their biggest threat they have faced up to this point. So ending right when $hit hits the fan and everyone's lives is in danger was just pure evil.

The cliffhanger season finale will have the anime only people chomping at the bit for 7 months. The mind worm has been implanted. Since I know what happens next, I still can’t wait! I think the whole purpose of the show is to rile up people’s emotions every moment it gets. It does a very skillful job at it! I think this break will get everyone who watched this show to start spreading the word on DanDaDan to those who have not even seen or heard of it. The art style direction, story, ridiculous antics, endless surprises, voice actors, OST, and gorgeous animation are just unparalleled.

You're completely right on it being a poor way to end the season. Seeing the preview of last episode had us manga readers worrying they'd do something cheap and end it like this, and they ended up doing it. Without spoiling anything, they straight up ended it halfway through a chapter that didn't even have a cliffhanger. Essentially they added a cliffhanger for something that was supposed to be resolved within the same chapter.

@@IIAbraham777 It's cheap because it's a completely artificial way of building suspense for the next season or trying to encourage people to read the manga to find out. The scene with the talismans being found is a great way of doing it, it gives room for discussion and speculation in the downtime. But with the bathhouse scene it's only potential is just people really hoping that Momo doesn't get SA'd. Also, it being 6 pages from the next chapter still maintains my point that they are making something a cliffhanger that wasn't supposed to be.
