Gary you appear to feel much more confident in yourself since I first met you through this journey. You seem happier and more relaxed and even to be enjoying yourself. I’m happy you’ve found your voice and are growing into the fine young man you certainly are. Your kids and wife and friends are lucky to have you in their lives. Blessings on you and your family in all things. A big fan from 🇨🇦👵🐶🥰

Love the live edge! Hope you are saving those small cut offs for signs. You mentioned you wanted to do some signs around the place & woods. Good rainy day project to have some fun with. Can't wait to see what you come up with to amuse us. Just an idea... how about a nice wide 'boardwalk' where the egg boxes are. It would make collecting level & nicer for everyones shoes.

Coons can climb over that fence. I lost 50 ready to butcher road island red chickens! They got in my chicken coop at the door. Just a big enough gap and clawed, tearing the wood up. So we reinforced the wood door with tin roofing. Those coons can climb walls. Hope you got the coop secured pretty quick. Even 1 night the coons can do damage. They pulled the chickens breast off to get to the grain in their craw. They did not eat the chicken meat. I was so sick. They were about 2 weeks from butcher ready! We never had that happen again. We have learned sooo much about chickens. Had chickens since 2004. We have 25 right now. I love your new chicken coop. So cute!

Gary, looking at this video for the third time, I noticed something! The openings of the fencing are so large, I would think a snake could come inside. I think Anthony used a second layer of fencing to solve that problem. Don't want you losing any birds. Also you need to check the helper actuators Anthony used on the nesting box lid. If Abe will be checking eggs it could keep the lid slamming down on him. Hope some of that helps! ❤❤

**** My understanding from other homesteaders, is there needs to be openings for airflow.. like one wall of wire mesh.. if not, wet chickens can get 'moldy' from being wet in winter and rainy days. I guess it is a real thing..

Instead of using canvas for the top of the roof of the chicken coop you can put some half inch plywood up there and put rolled roofing up there and then you wouldn't have to buy any tarps or anything when it goes bad covering up the top of the chicken coop

Omg! I sincerely apologize for the previous comment I posted re: this video. It was at approximately 20:00 in that I realized this is actually the way Gary wanted to construct the chicken coop and that’s perfectly ok! You folks will never have to worry that you did it as a “temporary “ to get by. The fact is, you don’t need anybody’s approval of your project and still put it out there to the public without worry, because it’s YOUR project and YOUR build and I will not purposely demean your efforts! Luv ya!

Oh; the other thing I wanted to mention. Since I moved to Panama City, Panama just one year ago, I have noticed a lot of people have outdoor kitchens. I was thinking this might be a good idea for both you and Gary and Anthony and Rox. They are very common here in the tropics as few want to heat up their kitchens / houses. You just get a really nice gas stove and a large bottle of gas and bingo! I was thinking Rox could build her outdoor kitchen some where in Anthony's garage.

Gary U put way too many screws and nails in stuff & Overkilling it man 😂. If you’d done that on some of the old crews I worked on you’d have been fired the first day for wasting materials 😂. I’m not kidding. The Old carpenter/general contactor that I worked for years ago... He told us rule of thumb is two nails or 2 screws in the ends of Joining 2x4’s together & 3 nails or screws in joining 2x6’s and 4 nails in joining 2x8’s and 5 nails in 2x10’s & 2x12’s . He taught us each screw or nail should be 1.5”-2” apart depending on width of the board. Anything more than that he told us was was a waste of materials & really didn’t help but it had more potential to split the wood. He said once the siding, flooring or sheathing was installed to strengthen the framing those extra wasted nails wasn’t gonna help anyway. The more I done I saw he was right because 3 nails or 3 screws in the ends of two 2x4’s does tend to be too close to one another & split the ends more. So with 2 screws or Nails in 2x4’s which is only 3.5” wide anyway is fine. Especially once the siding, flooring, or sheathing is added those extra nails aren’t really beneficial Anyway. Installing more nails or screws than needed is only costing U more money in the long run not really benefiting you. But nice Coop gonna be nice in collecting eggs and easy to clean out nesting boxes. 😊
