Hard Work Pays Off for our Cabin Homestead! In todays video, we tackled a project that weve been really needing - a Yard Fencing Transformation. It was a heat index of 110 with 85 humidity - we felt like quitting multiple times, but we took many water breaks and pushed on through to finish just in the nic of time. Thanks for Watching!

Surprised to hear Gary say "Close enough for government work," given his OCD! 🤣🤣🤣 Gary, for someone who was not really in the construction business before, I really admire your building skills, despite your tendency to overdo it from time to time. . . . When working in this heat, make sure to take frequent breaks to give your bodies a rest and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated! . . . I am happy for you guys, especially you Gary, that you got all of that fence work done. Come late Fall (or mid-winter or early next Spring), maybe you can kick the dogs out (I know! they will NOT stay fenced in!), replant some grass and it'll take this time around and you will have yourselves a nice little back lawn.

next time you dive posts measure down the 51" and spray paint a line across the posts. then you just drive without needing to measure each one.

Gary I’d suggest wearing ear plugs as you drive those posts. I drove so many of those things and never used hearing protection and I’m probably at least 20 years older than you.... And now I suffer from some hearing loss because the things I done and didn’t wear hearing protection. Such as T Post driving, chainsaw, weed eater, lawnmower, shooting guns, power equipment ect. So get you some muffs or ear plugs to save your hearing in your latter years... You’ll definitely thank yourself for doing so. 😊

Since you r new to the area, you may not know about mosquitoes. They reproduce in standing water. I noticed your 1/2 barrel had water collected in it, and I know you leave water out for the dogs and cats. Just be sure you keep an eye on it. You may want to eliminate as much standing water as you can. Keep on keepen on. Worry about you both I working so hard in the heat. I know you want to push yourselves to get things done. But don’t push too hard. Heat stroke is real.

Your working so hard for each tier. We had six acres on prarie land. Had a double wide and put up 42 cattle panels around the yard for fences. Our landlord wouldn't spend any money. We had prairie dogs across pasture and they would eat everything. So fence went up and came down when we moved. Still have the 42 panels and post. Cut 1 in half and made 2 gates. Took screen wire and cut in half. Zip tied to bottom of fence, bureid 3 1/2 inches under ground. No getting under. Worth the work for grass and garden. Blessings

Also if you have some old bed sheets, you could now trow them over the fence and get some little shade.. i know it's not a big deal. But hey, see it like some sort of Wind shield or sun sail stuff from the beach. With an Pole like in the chicken area you could made an Big Sun Sail in the corner to compensate the lost of Shade from the tree

Gary, please be careful in this crazy heat. Heat stroke is real and sometimes sets people back for years. You need to be around for your family! This heat is extremely bad this year, as you know. You work too hard sometimes. The fence will be good for the dogs and it's looking good too.

For burying pipes in the garden i made a T-shaped template. The horizontal arms must touch the ground, and the trench must be so deep the vertikal part just doesnt touch ground. That way i can be sure all pipes are at the minimum depth the template sets. (These pipes are blown dry before it freezes)

JudithB Lot of work in this kind of heat!!! I could deal with the dry heat in Arizona pretty well after 6 yrs, but the humidity here in Arkansas just knocks you down. Be super careful! I just got over a bout of food poisoning in the bad heat and no fun at all. Now its cooler and drier for a few days, lot of catchup mowing to do, more sticks to pick up from the storms and a bucket full of tomatoes and peppers to make salsa!!

I’ve put posts in just like your putting in. Get your post in at the height you want the put your post driver back on and measure the height at the top of driver then you can drive them all in. Or a lazy way I did is take a string and tie a big washer to the end and a clip on the other end when you have your driver to the proper height and you won’t need to measure each post because the washer will touch ground. After 100s of T post you find creative ways to do it with less steps .
