I don't know, if it was freestyle. But as a child I watched Dr Rainer Klimke and Ahlerich at the Olympics. It was the only time I ever enjoyed sports on TV. Still remember this great performance, great also the guy commenting it. And how relaxed the horse was at the end of such hard work.

I do not ride and I cannot conceive of how this rider conveyed to his horse every minute change in direction, and alteration of speed, he required. Absolutely magical to watch, and very moving too. Respect!

That horse worked so hard for him. Wringing that tail practically all the way. But the rider was so calm quite and fluid saying yes you can son , we will do it together. The cooperation was beautiful. None of that nasty rolkur. Excellent job.

I’m 75 now! I never had my own horse. My brothers did. But I feel every movement as I watch this! I remember how it felt riding other’s horses and it was ALWAYS beautiful! Not THIS beautiful but beautiful nonetheless! Oh! I wish I was young again so I could ride again!! !

Love Carl, he has done so much for dressage, and Del is a fabolous looking horse, but he used to get nervous in the ring, I am happy to see him get more confident and perform so well in that (I am sure quite overwhelming) atmosphere at Olympia. I imagine the indoor arenas present the most pressure for horse and rider, especially in Olympia, where it is so packed, when the riders come in, the front row can almost touch them.

@@hanakinsidewalker Yep, according to what I read he was gelded because his confirmation wasn't on par with the breed standard. Failed in his breeding, but excelled in being a living masterpiece. I would have loved to see foals from him, but it was not meant to be.
