I went to Paris for my vacation in 2009. I did notice that French people were not in a cheerful mood most of the time. The young French people were more sociable and enjoyed meeting foreigners.

When I lived with my host family in Lyon, Sunday lunch when my host mother’s parents came over was always just nothing like anything in this country where there’s not as much appreciation for good food and leisurely meals.

Hello Mister Theo, oui! when our mother is not busy then she cooks boeuf bourguinon or gratin with pain perdu for dessert. Or we just buy oven-ready panier feuilleté noix saint jacques or coquille saint jacques à la bretonne - always saint jacques

I can already recommend some vegan/vegetarian restaurants right now : - Maslow (for vege tapas with vegan options) - Faubourg Daimant (for elegant vegan cuisine) - Aujourd'hui Demain (for brunch, pastries, coffeshop and even savory meals all vegan) - B.Better (for vegan tapas and wine bar)

Theo, what’s the difference between a bistro and a brasserie?

A bistro is more a small and casual neighborhood restaurant, with sometimes a bar inside. A brasserie can be bigger, sometimes even a bit elegant, with large table with white tablecloths ! But in both of them you will find the French classic food

Why do the French people place such an emphasis on excellence and detail with food? I understand that children in school are taught to set the table and serve their classmates, etc. Is it true? I learned this in a movie directed by Michael Moore. Perhaps this is a good video topic for your Spill the French Tea?

From the USA. The French teacher their children good manners. This is something that the USA has lost over the last 30 yrs.

Unfortunately we don't learn enough about food at school, but it's something important in the family and also during the lunch break, we have more time to eat so the eating moment is special to us, it's not just a quick break but more like a social reunion
