What makes a song “for Christ”?

​@@typhlosionmaster6832 I think of "for Christ" as a spectrum with two ends: On the one side, there are many who do things "for Christ" in the same way they get someone a gift. They get something they think is cool and that they think the other person (Christ in this case) will think is cool and hope that the other person likes it. The issue there is that our idea of what God wants is usually a little too skewed by our own concepts. On the other side, the Bible emphasizes that God wants us to involve Him in everything we do, including conferring with Him about anything we might want to do "for Him." This gives Him the opportunity to say, "That's not really something I want." which is honestly better to hear before you start than after you've already spent the time. The more a person speaks with God about things, the more in-tune they will become with Him, and a song is much more likely to be genuinely "for Christ"--whom the person appreciates and loves and really just wants to sing about it. Maybe Christ also literally wanted them to sing/play that song for others to hear. As you may have picked up from what I wrote, whether or not something is genuinely "for Christ" can be a pretty personal thing between the person and God, so it's often not easy to tell if someone's song really is for Christ or moreso for themselves, so it's generally better not to worry too much about that and just enjoy someone's song as it is 😊

This was my late grandfather's favorite hymn. He is with his Lord now. He spent his entire life reading God's word and walking in the footsteps of Christ. My grandfather was not perfect; none of us are. But if we could earn our way into heaven, Christ would not have had to die. God is just and must judge our sin with a godly hatred towards it. Jesus, Son of God and Son of Man came and bore the penalty for our iniquities; they were nailed to the cross with him. Jesus suffered the full wrath of Almighty God for the sins of all who believe in his name. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and that God raised him again from the dead and you will be saved. Romans 5:8 "This proves God's love toward us: that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
