Eyy cool video, short and to the point!😂 thanks for making it though cause very often I hear people say that one glass doesn’t affect you and its just a treat to end the night cause you feel more relaxed and blah blah. My gf for awhile had one glass almost every night which I suspected to not be great and she thought it was helpful. Thanks for this!

I have an Oura too, made me much more conscious of how adderall abuse was destroying my health. After I stopped my sleeping average resting heart rate went from 72 to 48...

Was the difference in average resting heart rate consistent while awake too?

Thank you! This information is helpful beyond the effect of alcohol. I’ve had to stop drinking recently, but I still have many days waking exhausted. The information in this video, that affecting certain parts of sleep can lower it’s quality, will help me to make changes for restful sleep! ✌️

Hi there, really loving your series on all the different topics of neuro, could you kindly please do one video talking about the role of omega 3's the type of fish oil to use if some of us don't eat fish often enough and how much we should take of the fish oil. Thank you so much Neurogal.

You should run the test a few more times to see if the effect can be reproduced. You sleep duration was also much lower, possibly from the alcohol or something else which could also have influenced your REM phase.

Also use an Oura and have seen similar results with alcohol v no alcohol. Less REM and a broken sleep pattern. Tested multiple times. Rarely drink wine now but when I do I combine it with an early meal, at least 2 hours before bed time. For me eating and drinking within 3 hours of bed time clearly shows up as negative on Oura. But I am in late 60s and sleep has been an issue for many years. When all is aligned though, meal timing, no alcohol, morning sun, exercise, and low stress, my sleep is fairly good, combined 3 hours plus of REM and Deep, I rarely get less than an hour of deep, but REM is highly variable.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! Good point about eating before bed - I've noticed that personally as well! It's interesting how alcohol consumption and eating close to bedtime can impact sleep so much, and how the Oura ring helped to objectively measure that for us so we could modify our nightly routine!

Maybe you just need a bigger glass of wine? Lol l actually don’t drink often anymore eighter and l also don’t feel very rested when l do. Funny enough, yesterday evening l had 2 shots of almond liquor and woke up like so refreshed, NOT 🤪 My grandma once mentioned this more than 10 years ago as well that she woke up as soon as the alcohol wore down and then couldn’t sleep anymore, that’s why if l do have a drink l try to do it noon time so the alc has gone before bedtime.. Thanks for the info sassy girl 🙏

would be interesting if you can recall the dream if it happened while the ethanol substance is in your stomach.. to my 'weird thoughts' some of dream can be triggered by the hormonal activity such as nightmare is triggered by cortisol hormone or romantic dream is triggered by testosterone or progesterone hormone or dream is trigered by endorphin hormone.. maybe this thoughts is in line with Freud concept that the dream is not just suppressed memories but also the hormonal system.. further than that the dream also can reach beyond space-time boundary to the collective unconsciousness as per C.G Jung concept.. during our sleep the left brain hemisphere always working in tandem with right brain hemisphere and much active to creates 'dreaming scenarios' and left hemisphere as its function to analyze or doing reasoning and if the dream is lucid then there's possibility to recall.. from my 'weird experience'.. too much ethanol in the stomach it can release my subtle body as oobe..😊
