I have a fun story. So I'm In the Civil air patrol and was at an encampment, and we were all in the dorms shining are shoes and such, and I hear a cadet from my squadron say something like "Lt such n such, we spilled shoe polish on the carpet." then I hear the Lt yell "YOU DID WHAT?!?!?!?!?!". Apparently, one of his wingmen had spilt the cheap instant shoe polish on the floor. I felt so bad... but It was so funny!

If folk like to pay RRP. Taking good care of everything one owns is also a good policy. It is a simple matter to live frugally and have more money to spend of food and other prepping items. Regular people don't know what to make of chacos - it seems they think they're some kind of leisure footwear or something. Little do they know how great they are for farmwork, building, hiking, biking, walking in rivers, anything outside except for snow and wet when it's really cold, then break out the workboots. When I travel abroad, I wear my chacos and that's all the footwear I bring. I still have the shoe shine paraphernalia I used to shine my shoes for work and church and stuff but it's been tucked away for years. My son, though, he's got his shoe & boot collection. @@homer3189 The only time I've seen Zuckerberg is during his congressional hearings where he's wearing a suit. But even if he and jobs wore burlap sacks 24/7, two anecdotes don't prove anything. You're basing your statement off some television trope of a one in a billion trust fund kid who never learned anything and, for some reason, thinking that is the rule rather than the exception. Obviously you're mistaken. Most wealthy people, as in the majority of them, work and present themselves in a professional, well dressed manner. No, they don't wear suits to bed, but they tend to dress appropriately for the occasion (e.g. Zuckerberg in front of congress wearing a suit, to use your example). You should stop thinking reality is a certain way based off of what your cell phone tells you, grow up, and live in the real world for a minute.

I broke down and bought some of the plastic crock knockoffs, because I was in a accident where my feet were crushed, along with my legs, my boots and shoes were causing so much pain, plus difficult to put on and take off, it took 15 years , they are easy to put on, and take off, but I hate them, True though, boys these days seem to not have anyone teach them to be a man, some it's hard to even tell from girls, not to offend anyone, I don't really care about looks, but they need to know how to be a man, learn how to do things , and how to take care of their selves, and a family, I have always had difficulty finding shoes, I was wearing a 13-14 when I was 14, I wear a 14-15 now, but I have duck feet, thick and wide! Ha-ha the hair I have I guess it comes from the 1/16 Cherokee blood I have, so its black, I live in the East slope of the. Appalachian mountains, in NC, cowboy boots don't fit my feets! With the difficulty's of finding shoes, I started wearing work boots to school, I didn't want to, bit a few years later, I started noticing ppl. Wearing workboots with Street clothes! I don't know if I started that style, but never noticed it before! I still wear work boots often, I have a pair of Doc Martins, dark brown, low cut, they are comfortable, but still painful! Good day!

One trick we used in the Air Force for a nice mirror polish was a double polish. First layer we "Gunked" on the polish, wetting it down and quickly buffing it. Add a second lighter layer, then take a lighter, and light the polish. Once it starts to "Melt" blow it out, then buff like crazy with a damp cloth followed by a dry cloth. Then take Mop-n-Glo, apply to a cotton ball, and apply to the tips of your boots in a rapid circular motion. Then finish with a very light rapid polish. Though be forewarned, DON'T over do the Mop-N-Glo as it can tear up the polish.

My Grandfather owned and operated a hat cleaning business for over 40 years , and he also had THREE shoe shine chairs in his shop. He taught me how to care for and shine shoes before I was a teenager . When I went into the military , one of the things they were adamant about was keeping your shoes , (boots) shined . The instructors made a great point of showing us how to "spit shine" our boots. I got in a bit of trouble because I could put the same kind of shine on a pair of boots with a good brush and a buffing cloth, and never "spit shined" my boots . Finally , one of my Drill instructors pulled me aside , and made me show him how I shined a pair of boots . I ended up shining about half of the rest of the boots in my unit . To this day , I do not leave my home that my shoes , (or my boots) are not shined .

I remember back, a long time ago when I was single and looking for love in all the wrong places....A girl sat down next to me and said something along the lines of "I can tell what kind of guy you are by your shoes." And I was wearing a pair of Chucks! Needless to say, we didn't "go to the prom" with each other that night! Well...a week or so after that, I was talking to my buddy and mentioned that story to him and his response was (very sarcastically) "So she saw that you had on a pair of comfortable shoes that conveyed you were the type of guy who had more important things on your mind than the style of shoes you choose to wear and she knew you weren't some kind of pretentious, materialistic, pompous ass....right?" And I just kind of sat there, dumbfounded for a second and then realized his sarcasm was on point. If your shoes are comfortable and you feel good wearing them, then screw anyone else who would judge you for your shoe style. If you look to someone's feet to get an impression of them, then you're not looking in the right place.
