I’m from NW Oklahoma, have worn boots for a long time, probably 74 years. Generally when I leave the house I’ve got boots on. These are ready to go dancing again!!! I’ve also told a couple of fellows out here who do shoe repair about your channel, I’m sure that they enjoy it too.

I appreciate how you feature different kinds of boots with different stich methods, i.e. blake, goodyear, chain, etc. That's helpful since it visually demonstrates to me how certain stitch methods could affect the profile / silohouette of the shoe. Thanks for the learning!

Good cowboy boots are an investment. I couldn’t even think about them getting that torn up. Even ranch workers get their boots rebuilt before they get to that state. Since they had leather board heels, maybe they weren’t that much of an investment.

I have a pair of Frye cowgirl boots! They’re vintage, though I’m not sure exactly what vintage specifically, and I love them. I got them on eBay, and when I got them, the rubber heel pads were totally gone, and the previous person had apparently gone right on wearing them on just the heel blocks. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Speaking of driving on the rims… but I got them repaired straight away, and they have a better home now.

Why is the sole in the thumbnail not an image of the boot in the video? The boot in the video didn't seem to have nails in the waist.
@TrentonHeath
@TrentonHeath Жыл бұрын
Good catch! I had to go back and check myself. We actually had a number of cowboy boots in-house that we were resoling. The pair in the video and the boots on the thumbnail look exactly the same on the sole (except for the tacks on the waist). We accidentally grabbed the wrong pair for the thumbnail. Good eye. Our mistake. Hope you still enjoyed the video.

Question off topic about Blake stitching. It is possible to resolve a limited amount of time Blake stiched shoes. Fine. But when do you really need to do that? Can't I just put an antislip rubber grip under the outsole and just change that everytime it needs to? Should I still resole a Blake stiched outsole?

I grew up here in north central Texas and I am 64 years old now. I look at boots like that, and have at least 12 pair ,and i know that they look battered and wore out to most people. To the people wearing those boots, they see life lived, the good AND the bad but they are part of every single day gone by,and the many or few still to come . The only thing that will make a cowboy madder than messing with his boots, is messing with his hat.😊

Two completely different questions for you. I'm curious about the sharpening of the hand tools you use, like the edger and the knife to cut the sole off. Do you resharpen or are they a throw away item? The other question, do you build/offer shoes built from scratch?

@TrentonHeath
@TrentonHeath Жыл бұрын
It really depends upon what you’re using them for and how much you want to spend. If you’re looking for just a traditional cowboy boot, Lucchese, Dan Post, Rios of Mercedes are some higher quality ones. If you’re not picky and want just a very comfortable, good looking boot then Tecovas aren’t bad. I have a couple of pairs and really like them.

@Trenton and Heath would you be able to size down a pair of men's boots to fit a woman's foot? My dad passed away and I have a pair of his boots that he would wear often. I would love to wear them in his memory but they are far too big for me.
@alierem4266
@alierem4266 11 ай бұрын
Just a suggestion (until experienced ppl comment.) If half or 1 size bigger, use double in sole and if needed, a back of heel padding can be used. Insoles are expected to push feet up for a snuggle fit, keeping on mind the size as noted.
