What a lovely place to fish / Bonelli Park / Puddingstone Lake

You don't know how happy you made this old guy. My brother and friends cut our Bass fishing teeth on this lake back in the early 80's. Actually the 1st time my family visited Lake Puddingstone was 1974, I was 8 years old and believe it or not camping was allowed there, right on the water if desired. We camped on the North side, 20' feet from the waters edge and in the morning we tossed out some red worms and proceeded to catch several Bluegill. The biggest one was roughly half a pound and beautifully colored, rarely seen nowadays. He had the dark blue spot on his gills but his scales were a deep green with a silver/white belly. A true Bluegill and at 8 I was in heaven and satisfied with that one fish. The North end at this time was incredibly shallow. Water levels were very high, almost reaching the parking lots and turning the creek mouth towards the airport into a river inlet rather than the creek mouth it usually exist. Our catch ended with 10-12 nice Bluegill over a day and a half trip, including 1 small Bullhead catfish, pushing 12" inches. It was such an awesome lake back then and the amount of vegetation in the water due to high water levels made for beautiful scenery. I remember the numerous camp fires around the lake at night, that's one thing I miss about being able to camp at local lakes on the water, the beauty of the night, the sounds of catfish tugging on a line on the opposite side of the lake, with the outlines of two men dancing in front of the fire as one nets the others catch. There is nothing like camping right on the water and those were good times...thank you!

Remember the 60s when you could drive down to the Waters edge and fish. Over population ruins everything.😥

Thanks for sharing I been fishing at pudding stone many times only caught blue gill. Never use a fish finder this a tough lake for me fishing. At least I know there is actually fish inside the lake lol 😂

I found countless lures and weights that people lose their every time I go, if your looking to fish there I cannot recommend using oversized bate when fishing there
