What A Maxed Out Assassin Looks Like in AC Brotherhood

I've had the joy of being able to play AC Brotherhood all over again since I now have it on PC, and I got inspired to FINALLy do an outgunned run (that mission has been done by everyone in the stealth AC community), and I also wanted to show off some cool outfits that I really like using. The outfit I'm using in the first half is one from revelations. The reason I like using it is that in my headcanon, the person doing the outgunned mission is not Ezio, but a high-ranking recruit that ezio sent to do the mission for him (I'm weird I know). But it makes it more fun to think that since I've done these missions so many times. I wanted to make a video to show what is possible to do in brotherhood when you have all your tools available. this isn't a canon stealth video, As I need way more prep time for a video like that, but more a video showing the things you can do to bring out the assassin fantasy.

Now that the Animus can relive memories from damaged DNA it would be so cool to be able to control recruits for secondary misions like in Metal Gear Peace Walker. Like Abstergo found an ancient assassin stronghold with a catacomb that contains the tomb of the game's main assassin and their most loyal brothers's so now they can relive all of their memories. It would give the Brotherhood so much mystisism and make the protagonist assassin look so much cooler...

@Wuji Otsutsuki and why not both? Taking another page from Peace Walker's book, there could be individual and co-op missions, both of them playable as a recruit. It would be even greater of the other player had a foreigner skin, like the events of the mission are relevant for more than one branch. For example, if the game was set in Rome, you could accept a mission that involves some plan that affects Egypt, so you'd have the roman robes while the other player has egyptian ones, thus making it feel like the brotherhood is actually international, and that there are many modern day investigators exploring different events around the same era as the main story. Ubisoft has done bits of all of this, scattered across other AC games. They just need to put it all together. Also Peace Walker did this in the PSP era so there's no excuse😂

This video is a really great example of what Brotherhood really does right. If you know what you’re doing and play well, Ezio has probably the most responsive and maneuverable movement of any protagonist in this series while also having the what is possibly the best arsenal this series has to offer. Brotherhood, when played right, allows you to be an absolute speed demon tearing through forts of enemies with incredible lethality, or allows you to indulge in a surprisingly robust social stealth sandbox with a lot of interesting systemic qualities. Your run of Outgunned and the courtesan mission really showcases the former in a great way. Lots of moments where Throwing Knives and the Crossbow shine and prove themselves to be the workhorses of Brotherhood’s stealth system.

His animations are the most cancellable of any AC protagonist, Ezio responds to button presses without fault to the point that most complaints around Ezio Trilogy parkour is about him being *too* responsive, and his movement has a nice light, springy feel to it

I agree ezio and altair for me are the most responsive, its so refreshing to have such a quick acting protagonist compared to Unity. And the tool variety in brotherhood is insane. And i love how combat can weave so easily into stealth

@SchwayStealthgaming I can respect that as well. But tbh, the animations in Unity and Syndicate are part of the problem imo. While they are very cool, they are also just about completely uncancellable. Both the Ezio Trilogy and Unity/Syndicate have problems with precise targeting (you can see some examples in this video), but the difference is that in the Ezio Trilogy, you are stuck in those mistakes for far less time, and can do more to correct yourself via catch ledge and ejects because of how cancellable everything is. In Unity, you are basically at the mercy of the game in most respects and it feels like you are giving Arno suggestions rather than controlling him. I also find that the buggy technical state and tremendous input lag to give the movement a very sluggish feeling. That’s why I prefer the Ezio Trilogy-it perhaps isn’t as well animated, but it moves and feels good because Ezio consistently listens to your inputs with maximum efficiency, even to the point that it might cause issues.

Imagine a Recruit System combined with the Nemesis System in Shadow of Mordor / War. Maybe not a full on one to one copy, but maybe something from Watch Dog Legion's recruitment system. Where the Assassin that you have in your ranks have varying skills, abilities, and weaknesses can change the outcome of a mission. They dabbled that with Revelavations but that is kinda ... barebones? Clearly in a fight, they will do whatever you can do as long as you put enough training points in them. Some may have a few variations here and there, but a crossbow kinda does the same damage as the gun for the AI recruits. And the smokebomb assassins are always overpowered. I want something along the lines where Assassin A can do parkour and assassinations, but if a fight goes down, they're gonna get trounced. Or Assassin B can bulldoze a fight of 5+ people, but if you task them to snipe targets, they will struggle to completing the task. Because in Revelations, in their highest levels, they will pretty much dominate the fight unless it is two or three Janissaries.

One thing I always liked about the recruitment assassins is that over time they get better. And no I don’t mean they have better states i mean they actually get better at being assassins. Novice recruits if an enemy is over a ledge will climb up and do a jump assassination. Which is fine. But when they level up they perform the ledge assassination you can do by holding R2 and square (or X if you play xbox) also in combat not only do they get better weapons, they can parry attacks and kill multiple enemy’s like you can. But when they start off they are probably on the level of a generic guard in terms of fighting capabilities. I love the recruitment system so much. Also i live what they did in Revelations where they gave a backstory to one of the recruited assassins. And AC3 where all of them had their own backstory. Having a assassin sidekick that you get to see progress in terms of parkour, combat, and stealth is super cool and i have absolutely no clue what Ubisoft was thinking when they removed the feature.

I wanna play the Botherhood yall are playing, cause mine must be scuffed. Every time I try and get creative with parkour in this game, Ezio tries to kill himself without fail. I can never get him to do what I want, and it feels like the game is constantly punishing me for bad parkour even when taking my time and being extra precise. He's jumping too far on short jumps, jumping too short on long jumps, and it's becoming extremely annoying. It's even worse when you're doing Parkour trails cause, fun fact, he has "knee land" animation that plays when you just barely get a ledge. It's honestly a pretty neat animation, and outside of time trials/chases, I hardly notice it. However, he seems hard coded to do this animation whenever possible. By which I'm trying to say, he'd, instead of jumping normally, jump short and go into this animation, seemingly on purpose, and most the time against/out of my control, costing time. For the specific time trial, I'm talking about "Young at Heart", this means you are wasting precious seconds on an already somewhat difficult course watching an animation that can be easily skipped. Now, I know what you're thinking. "Well, why don't you just try to prejump those specific points?" And that's a great idea, which is exactly why I tried to whenever possible. Which brings me to the long jumps. You see, whenever Ezio goes into a long jump, it is its own animation. You can not change the direction that he jumps, which is important because sometimes, with the weirdness of directional controls, you'll find while you're going to jump to the rooftop directly in front of you, only for his sensitive controls to throw you completely off the rooftop, sometimes in a bizzare direction that you know you didnt tell him to go in, or completely over shooting where he's jumping, cause a death, or time loss. Even worse in a chase, because if you fall, you've basically lost your target. So, Ezio either jumps too short, causing an animation that kills time, jumps too far, and/or the complete wrong direction, ruining whatever chance of 100% you might have had, and on rare occasions, just completely eats your input. Even with precise directional control, fully knowing that you're holding forward, so he should go forward. No A or D just full W, he will still, STILL, jump off to his death in a random direction. I'm still having a lot of fun with this game, and even though some of the 100% are just not fun or worth it. There's still a lot of fun to be had with this game. It really sucks that now that I'm getting to the more complex parkour areas/challenges, it seems that he just keeps breaking. Heck, even in normal gameplay, it feels like I have no control anymore. Attacking random civilians when I'm in a guard fight, not doing double assassinations even when right next to 2 people standing right next to each other, shoulder to shoulder, and way too much more than i can recall right now. All of this is made more bizarre coming off of assassin's creed 2, which I just got done playing, in which I had 0 problems with the parkour and combat. He was responsive. He felt like he was always going in the direction I wanted him to, and his target priority was fantastic. Why doesn't it feel like all of that was just completely broken in this game? Just left broken to the point that you're lucky if he does anything you tell him to do. Then I see a video like this, where it looks so good and responsive. I can't help but wonder if I'm what's wrong. Even when I go out of my way to stay patient, to stay precise. Why does he still kill himself? Why does he still attack the wrong targets (yes, even when locked on) or random civilians? Why does he still go completely against the controls? I wish I knew what I was doing wrong, but from what it looks like. It's just luck, isn't it? It's not fun, or skill-based...just blind stupid luck and chance....if anyone has any tips or time to explain what I could be messing up, I'd appreciate hearing it. It's frustrating to have so much fun in 2, then feel like it's been lost in arguably my favorite game of the series. I'm glad other people can enjoy the parkour/make it actually work, but TL;DR this genuinely feels like the most broken movement has ever felt, especially coming off of the 2 previous, arguably inferior games. Also, yes, I know you're not supposed to button spam or hold the Sprint button when you're just trying to climb or something. That's not the issue. The issue is that when I press jump and hold the direction for him to jump, he then just ignores it and goes whatever he wants. I want to feel like an assassin, but I can't do that if my guy is just constantly jumping to his death at every conceivable point.

Imagine there was an open world assassin's creed that was just filled with buildings and places to climb, mabey something like Istanbul from revelations but in massive scale online multiplayer where you have to complete missions and sneak around from other online players. To make it even better it would be amazing if you could play as your favourite assassin and be able to defend your assassin HQ from players

Truly the best AC game objectively and subjectively. This game has it all. A good open world, well crafted questlines, sufficient side content, best protagonist, great story, great antagonists and an overall well rounded game not wasting anyone's time. Every other AC game lacked at least one aspect. Brotherhood didn't.
