Ah Ready Player One. Where a Gundam fights MechaGodzilla featuring Strider Hiryu and Duke Nukem under the direction of Steven Spielberg, and yet makes me feel NOTHING.... That's still a form of amazing directing talent.

Ya know, if you hit this guy with a top coat of paint after getting a fresh copy (and never moving it around) it could be a pretty nice display piece. If we could get 3rd party figures in the same quality that the 3rd party transformers are, that would be amazing.

I have the original version of this guy because I prefer the silver paint. He’s a cool match to recreate GVK with a Godzilla Vs King Kong NECA and a good doofy Kong like the NECA one

Mine is definitely the better version...but still broke right away lol!!!I got it a few yrs back...cut the sh%t out of it..added a bunch of balljoints and paint..and then pit it against 2021 MechaGodzilla in an epic stop motion battle!!

It feels so strange to me that MechaGodzilla hasn't gotten an actual figure or any merchandise in the Ready Player One design since that movie came out. Like besides this there's only custom figures made by dedicated individuals but nothing mass manufactured. Say what you will about the quality of the movie, I think the design looks great compared to other MG designs and would be a good fit in anyone's collection, even if it didn't come with all the accessories Grim Dragon does, or at the very least if it had a fire breath effect and the missile launching hands, etc. I was debating getting this figure just to say "I own this design finally" but I'd rather give my money to something that is made of better quality materials and wouldn't risk breaking by barely doing anything.

that's a shame, I hope Hiya or someone else could take a shot on the Ready player one design, because idk if I'm gonna be alone on this here or not but I think it's infinitely times better then the one we got in GVK.

I have the figure and I say it was worth the money considering the upgrades they did with it. For the quality I was experienced enough with NECA and several bootleg figures to know I have to heat it right out of the box before I even try to articulate it. With that said, the paint was flaking off with the hot bath I gave it but was mostly paint from stuck joints. But once it was loosened up and cleaned it was still a good figure. Granted I did end up breaking some of the joints but it was mainly my own fault as I was exploring how to take it a part and what type of joints it was using.

I picked up a couple of the silver ones (one clean and one gritty/battle damaged) about two years ago when they first came out. The build quality is a bit better than the one reviewed. The figures are definitely not meant to be played with/posed too much. However, from what I have seen the longer the molds are used the looser/more brittle the figures are getting. Talked to a friend at WonderCon last year who pulled the trigger on one earlier in the year. His figure as a little wonky, but looked pretty good. He tried to twist the upper torso putting the figure in his display and it snapped in half. Glad yours was more solid than his.

Ali Express is something else. There are actual store selling real merchandise, I bought a Gundam Universe Tallgeese and it was a real. But when it comes to known bootlegs, always buy the cheapest one if you're gonna risk it (In the Mines for that extra Toy Money). That being said, I'm about to pull the trigger on that Showa Ghidorah...finally. Also, I'd love it if NECA started making Kaiju figures again!! But, more towards Hiya's release pattern of a couple Godzilla's then another unique Kaiju mold.

Honestly I would get this figure (but only the normal silver version), because for one its one of my favorite Mechagodzilla designs (especially compared to the more recent designs we gotten lately like the anime trilogy and the MonsterVerse versions). And secondly I doubt we will ever get a legit "Ready Player One" Mechagodzilla figure any time soon. 🖥🦖🤖📦

I'd love to see your video on the older Showa KG KO. That's a fun figure (Which I still have yet to repaint). And yes, I'd like to see NECA get a license back. I half wonder if Toho regrets things now as NECA does go to the wall with some lines. I can't help but imagine what we would have gotten if NECA had a full license and went all out on Showa and Heisei.

Tbf, the knockoff SHMA 2019 by Legends Creation came with Neca's beam effect. They could be just throw in Neca's beam and roughly drill the throat on the mold that came with it. But c'mon, joint breaking, definitely a Neca figure . I did get a knockoff Shin. I thought it was legit and went ahead buying both normal and atomic. Some of the joints are missing, like the swivel on the elbow and the knee bend. The face... as if Neca's ain't ugly enough, this one seems smushed(?), dude truly looked like he was abused or something, for both version. I managed to get a... sorta mostly authentic Neca. Issa odd case of a hybrid. I did bought it used and painted to look more similar to the night combat version. At first I thought it was 100% knockoff, but the paintjob is good so I say fuck it. Since dem Aliexpress stuff are waaaaaaay too distributed here anyway, I may never got an original one. When it arrived, I thought it is an knockoff cuz there's no knee joint aside from swivel, but then the other side (right) does have it. And then the arms are the same but reversed, this time the swivel isn't present on the right but is on the left. But the dead giveaway that it is mostly genuine Neca, is the absolutely loose tail. I own an authentic 2014 Neca and that boi is loose. All the review I've seen of v1 Shin is also rather loose. I know they fixed it on the rerelease of Shin... somewhat, but mine is in the original color, only added with more red paint on the crevices. Funny thing is, the knockoff Neca got better sturdy joint. It's solid, I can shake it around and it doesn't fall off. The original... oh boi. So yea, I kinda sorta own an original Neca that I love, but I love the sturdy tail joint on the knockoff more . I did ended up gave them away to a construction guy my folks hired since he got a son, along with some of my vintage Bandai vinyls. It happened before I got the pseudo-quasi-original. I gave the figure but not the box. It may be knockoff, but the box art is . I kinda wish Neca managed to do Mechagodzillas wiithin the time they hold the license. I'm not a classic/suit era guy, but the Mechagodzillas always got a charm to me, even the lumpy doofball (as Jobby puts it) that is the Mechagodzilla II. I wanna collect them but the SHMA one are waaay overpriced in the aftermarket. I would buy Neca's 74 MG, Super MG, Kiryu, Kiryu Heavyarms, and Ohrai Noriyoshi's poster version (no need for gattai/combining feature, just give me the combined mode oob). However, I'm not interested in them returning to Godzilla line. I've said it in one of Rob's video, but I prefer Neca to do niche/retro kaiju but with a Neca twist. I love their reimagining of 33 Kong with the lanky proportion, and would love them to do other kaijus in similar style. Like maybe Rhedosaurus with a bit more traditional proportion, or Yongary with a smaller head and eyes, maybe Pulgasari with less human and more minotaurian proportion, Gorgo with a more SHMA Evolved Goji proportion, Reigo with a longer body, etc. Cuz rn Neca kinda lean into the nicher figure lines. Like an articulated 7" horror icons and Universal Monsters. Recently they announced Krampus and Der Klown from 2015 Krampus, a movie that terrified me as a kid but never heard anybody mentioned it since. So if they ever come back to the kaiju figure market, I don't want another Godzila focused line, maybe could do nicher one like Zilla, Stan Winston's, their own prototype of 85, but not the main focus nor the character others had picked up. But mainly, I want them to do the underrepresented kaiju, but still give the Neca flare, so that they don't directly compete with the more source material accurate releases of Titanic Creations. Tho still make a niche kaiju more widely accessible to many. McFarlane kinda gave me some hope that it's not that ppl don't like the niche stuff, just not exposed to it. His figure of Fulcum Abominus issa highly unknown obscure character, but now that it's out, the consensus I've seen is that ppl loving it. So hey, if they sell a nearly 10 years forgotten horror character, they maybe not so hesitant to do the same with niche kaiju. Especially with the inevitable kaiju waves thanks to Monsterverse and Minus One

At this point i really have no use for neca stuff, once you get good figures, they really make neca look cheap. Their Godzilla sculpts always had SOMETHING keeping them from being great, they were either decent or subpart. If they looked good they were bricks, if they moved better the head or proportions were off.

The world of 3rd party action figures is really interesting to me. Unfortunately, it seems the Aliexpress side of things represents the downmarket, straight up bootleg aspect of it all. I frankly think it would be really cool if we saw a rise in third party Godzilla figures, ala 3rd party Transformers, so that things Toho doesn't seem altogether interested in could get some nice toys. That being said, 3rd party figures tend to be a volatile thing, and with Toho's rising interest in the obscure, (*coughcough* moviemonsterseriesbagan *coughcough*) that point is looking increasingly redundant. Still though, I like the concept of fan-generated merch. Alas, this doesn't seem indicative of that vision, Lol. I definitely didn't appreciate Neca's Godzilla figures in their prime. I have a few now, and totally love them. I really didn't grasp the value of what we got for the price at the time. I was also wishy-washy on Neca's figures at the time, so it largely passed me by. It seems like Hiya is filling that brief to some degree now. As much as Hiya's doing great work, I would love to see Neca pick the license back up. Their ultimate figures have been SO GOOD recently, an ultimate Monsterverse Kong or Minus One Godzilla would be so rad.
