Thank you very much! Working on the fix. Looking good so far now waiting on a new arrival of Epoxy so I can ruin it again LOL

I hope you get it all sorted out. I wish I could help but I know nearly nothing about resin. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

Thank you! Cheers! I hope so as well. I would hate to stip it all down to nothig and start from scratch. I am prety sure I will get it to an acceptable stage. Take care my friend

Knowing you, you'll get it to looking great eventually. Hang in there. Bill

Thanks for the confidence. I will not quit without trying everything I can think of and try some suggestions here.

Ouch! I have to agree that the wood has to be sealed before applying the epoxy. This will prevent the bubbles in the wood from coming out. Unfortunately, I would say that you would have to get a belt sander with 60 grit to start and get all that epoxy down to the original wood and start all over again. I'm sure that's not something you want to hear, but to me it's the only way to fix the problem and have it come out perfect. Good luck Al. I know you'll do a bang-up job on it. Tom

I am in complete agreement with the sanding it with the belt sander nd 60g I just hope I can stop at the lats meaning removing a 1/8" of epoxy. Ifthat fai;s tna continue and remove the lats.

Good luck with it. Curious to see how it goes.

You and me both! LOL it will be a chalange for sure

You'll get it worked out, Al. I'm thinking the wood in that corner wasn't as dry as the rest. Resin doesn't like moisture and will react that way if it is present.

Good thought and a possibility even though it all came from same pile. After further investigsating how bad the issue was I realized that there was no way to work with the issue that was there. It forced me to think out of the box and create something completely different. now waiting on more epoxy LOL

Sorry to see your problem. Resin was never good for me as I have given up except filling holes in a bowl etc. Good luck in solving your problem with the table. Good to hear from you!
@AlFurtadoАй бұрын
Thanks 👍 I think problem is solved for now. I will know once I pour the new epoxy
@Bramsshed1913Ай бұрын
I can't offer any solutions mate, as what I know of resin is indeed,less than minimal.I am certain that you can get this project to a standard that you will be happy with. Take care mate, Bram.

Thanks for watching my friend. No problem. I should have watched some pros doing it first huh? LOL

Is there possibly a local wood shop that has a CNC that could resurface it for you? Maybe take off 1/16 inch all across the top then seal the surface and repour. I liked the original table you had in there. Good luck and we really don’t need to worry because you’ll make it better than original before you’re finished.
@AlFurtadoАй бұрын
Good idea but finding a shop with a cnc not very likely here in the Azores but I could make a slide for a rouder to plane it down . the mess is a huge issue. I am thinking of painters' plastic Isolate the area and belt sand it. If that fail I buy a sheet of plywood cut to size and start over LOL Originaly I wanted to make the top from a tree trunk slice with a live edge but could not get one big enough. I'll get it done. either way I can't keep it as is.

Al you definitely should have painted on a seal coat first. It takes care of the small air bubbles. You will definitely have to sand it all down to wood to get rid of the milky look.

Hey Al still up to no good I see lol, how about block sanding and finishing it off with wet sanding up to 2 to 3k grit, if it gets too thin maybe brush a few layers of epoxy? But over all I like that look you did on the table... PS: Ever heard "don't fix what aint broken"? hehe
@AlFurtadoАй бұрын
Ha Ha Ha. Nah neva herd of that....... Thanks for the compliment. I would know how to get it to shine again but the bubbles are way too deep for delicate sanding. I think I need a sledge hammer LOL
@CoxeysbodgeringАй бұрын
The humidity won't help either, also how much did you cut back the original wood? Also how fast a cure is your resin? Maybe a slower set next time
@AlFurtadoАй бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting it is greatly appreciated as well as you suggestions. I'm not sure I understand the question on " how much did you cut back the original wood? " as far as the dry time on the epoxy it is around 4 hours for it to start jelling up. It's a 1 to 1 mix tabletop epoxy.
