I was making mujaddara back in the day, in college (1969-1973, yes I'm old) and didn't know what it was called. The same girl who gave me the recipe also gave me a recipe for pita bread (of which I knew nothing, beforehand). Back then food was way cheaper than now and I'd make a huge pot, freeze portions, and have a happy belly and several ways to eat/serve that lentil/rice/onion goodness....thank you for mentioning mujaddara and bless your grandmother for making/serving it at dinner.

Girl and I know you know this if anything ever needs more flavor tahini to the rescue every time. And then I always mix it with some almond yogurt to make it like a creamy tahini dressing dip whatever and some Himalayan salt and black pepper and that is my go to condiment on the daily. Thanks for the upload

I needed your energy so so much today - just in time to cheer me up*! I really appreciate how real you remain with your food as it makes it much more relatable than all the pre-planned videos on YT :D . . . *just because I need to let some of the emotions go: today I was alone when my cat passed away. So so glad I get to watch such an uplifting video after an incredibly emotional day. Thank you Rebecca!

I’m so sorry your cat passed away, that’s so rough 🥺. I lost two of my cats about 18 months ago and it’s heartbreaking. In time you will only remember the good parts with them and not them passing away so much. Allow yourself to feel all your feels, it will get better xx

@@laurenw7384 Thank you! I know it was simply "his time" (it was a genetic disorder and could happen any day) but it is not easy anyways. Time is definitely needed for me to process the feelings. Lots of love!

Escargot is just French for snail (shape of the puff pastry item you got, most famous one is with raisins but must include a real butter pastry in original).

When you said be entertained I immediately thought of the movie gladiator. "Are you not entertained." Also when I want something sweet I usually go for frozen fruit I try to keep some in the freezer. Not to be "healthy" it's just the lowest effort lately night. 😂

cowboy caviar is amazing - I do find it interesting how everyone' adds something different in terms of suace to get it saucy -- I never thought about using the italian dressing in it until I saw tik tok. My mom usually makes a dressing from scratch to add into it. but I say yes! to making the cowboy caviar! that's like I made coleslaw with this vinegar based dressing my mom used to make us growing up and that's been my go-to side all week bc i'm the only one who ate it on fourth of july - lmao

You know what I don’t live in the city anymore unfortunately it’s not that I don’t want to but I will tell you what anytime I get a store upstate in the Catskills too after months of begging order some vegan things that I really really would like and I buy them out they never restock I mean do they not understand understand the concept of supply and demand if we buy everything on the shelf of that one item that we like wouldn’t you think they would say oh wow this is really moving off the shelves let’s re-order it but they don’t I mean what the hell so I feel your pain girl like it’s not just in the city it’s not just Trader Joe’s anytime I stumble upon a vegan option up here in the boonies and I buy out the entire shelf they don’t restock. Grrr

please stop calling it cowboy caviar and spa water those erasure names for traditional mexican items :( it’s ceviche and agua fresca
@bodegacatx2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never said spa water. And I’m pretty sure ceviche is a seafood dish.
@mrnnstr2 жыл бұрын
@@bodegacatx i must’ve been mistaken i thought i heard you say it but please consider that many many mexicans and indigenous people have been speaking out about the erasure that “cowboy caviar” is. a white girl literally claimed to have invented it when mexican and indigenous cuisine has so many exact if not similar dishes it’s ceviche without fish… no matter how long she claims she has been making it or wether it’s from her parents or wtvr tf mexican and indigenous culture far proceeds her and her family
@mrnnstr2 жыл бұрын
for context i am chicana and everyone in our families eats dishes exact if not similar to “cowboy caviar” feels icky even calling it that
