Finding a Yasser video in your feed is like waking up to find your wife cooking your favorite meal. It's little stuff like this that makes life kinda good.

Yasser's lectures are always such a treat :D *edit:* It's heartwarming when a super-GM still remembers the 1700-rated player who showed him some basic concepts early on... the power of teaching :') Also, I think some of these positions were also the material of (much) earlier lectures. Yasser seems really proud of that endgame - and rightly so. It requires deep, concrete calculation and looks like balancing on a razor's edge the whole time. Absolutely beautiful!

34:30 to truly show understanding you should instead promote to a knight or bishop to further disrespect them and still achieve checkmate since there king is completely cut off and is forced to push their pawn

I remember my high school teammates showing me the initial puzzle as a sort of rite of passage. The kings were on a3/a1, so it was more obvious I needed to move the pawns and not the kings. But I remember eventually brute forcing the solution and feeling proud of it and passing it on a few years later. It can be frustrating to remember, but there are only so many moves and combinations possible. In the meantime, I played a few games where I and my opponents both missed that sort of breakthrough (a computer showed me years later.) So I really like this example on top of the puzzle. I saw the 4-on-4 study years later in Kmoch's Pawn Power in Chess. It was worth looking through but would've been even better as a video--like this.
