Happy New Year and good luck with reselling in 2025. The books will have sucked up some of the water from the condensation, even if it is not obvious to you right now. Dry out any books before you package them for posting (leave them out at home for a bit) otherwise they will sweat and arrive at the buyer's address in a different shape than you last saw them. I'd also suggest you visit the container daily to get the doors open for a couple of hours to dry it out properly as you'll not see some of the moisture that remains.

Steve, I feel your pain! I have a container as well and despite reassurances from the owner mine condensates very badly. I have 4 Unibond Aero 360 boxes in there and despite collecting a lot of moisture over the year I still have the problem this winter. I think a big part of it is the wooden floor which soaks up moisture, especially when the ground outside is wet and you trail it in. In my area as more container companies are popping up, the newer businesses seem to be coating their ceilings with Grafotherm which soaks up the moisture and when you’re inside the airflow helps it dry out once again and this stops condensation. Because of the competition the prices are the same as the container I’m in so I may move to one of those.

If the unit has power, Meaco dehumidifier. It's extremely effective at taking out water from air. If that's not good, you could use a ziplock bags per item plus airtight box containers.

Hi Steve. You need a couple of the larger Unibond dehumidifiers either end (Aero 360) that take the larger circular refills (non electric) not those little ones with the baubles. About a tenner in most shops, and do a great job. Refills are about £6 for two last time I bought some. On average they last 2-3 months depending on condensation level.

As someone else said above, Cat litter works really well to absorb moisture. I used to use wooden cat litter pellets spread out in boxes to keep an old car of mine which was sat for two years. It worked so well. Good luck. 😊

Good morning sorry you had this disappointing start to the New year. Hope you have a really good year this year. Happy 2025

Thank you! There are worse problems to have I suppose but I’m sure the rest of the year will be good. 😊

Try cat litter in plastic boxes , could help . I have all my stock including books in really useful boxes in my container, its a big outlay but worth it in the long run

Thank you Tracy. It might something I consider but when they’re full of books they can get pretty heavy to move around.

I am currently re boxing into plastic really useful storage boxes. Does it help with the moisture problem or do you just do it to protect the products? Thanks

I think i would be looking for office space instead of containers for my stock
@jennyd96912 күн бұрын
I had a 100ft office space and it was just so expensive. As a bookseller (like me) you'd have to sell so many books at such a high price just to cover it..

As Jenny says below. Office spaces aren’t cheap. I’d ideally love a warehouse one day but I have some growing to do first.

I asked a guy who owns a delivery/packaging etc business and he advised me against a shipping container like that. Also, I found even in a storage unit there was a chance of it because the walls were just very thin metal. Regardless, I think 2025 is going to be tough year for selling...glad I got rid of my rented space !
@SteveSpendsaPennyКүн бұрын
I think every year is a tough year for reselling. Yes the shipping container isn’t ideal but as it’s the first issue I’ve had in almost a year I’m not too bothered. I can’t really justify renting much else.

It would drive me insane mate if i just sold clothing . When i first started reselling it was clothing that started me on this journey, but i then learned over time about different niches and trying different types of items out. I like variety a lot more now . Sometimes at my car boots you can’t even get to the clothing rails 😂 . Like gaming it’s a very popular niche.
@SteveSpendsaPennyКүн бұрын
Yes very true Kev. I’m not really set up for taking pictures of clothing so I try to do a few in bulk when I have them but it’s not fun.

You have a couple of windbreakers at the front of your lock-up, could you spread those out across the top as a temporary measure?
@SteveSpendsaPennyКүн бұрын
I hadn’t thought of using those. Might try it out next time if need be. Thank you 👍🏻
