Ages ago during Halloween from where I'm from, there were vendors selling grilled dried squid and those were sooooo good! It makes it smoky and crispy for only being grilled lesd than 10 minutes! You can try grilling your dried squid to make it crispy again. 😊

I tasted both Tomyum and Larb Pretz, from my Thai friend, who brought to Japan with her. Definitely awesome. First time I tried the "larb" I was hook. I asked her what make larb different from other salad (Sontum). She explained a little bit and give me a seasoning packet for larb. Then I tried to learn to make it at home, then I found this channel 😍 It was 7 years ago and I grew with this channel since then, loving Thai cuisine and sometime Pai's recipes from her MIL as well.

I went to Thailand many years ago and fell in love with the cuisine which I knew NOTHING about before visiting, never tried, never knew what it was about. I've never tried to cook Thai recipes at home because they appeared so complex and the ingredient lists seemed so foreign to me I didn't even know where to begin. Your videos really demystify Thai cooking and I am finally able to make all this deliciousness at home, like if I had a Thai friend show it to me and guide me through every step and every ingredient. This video just makes me want to go back to Thailand so bad! I've been to many countries but Thailand is still one of my favorite trips - wonderful people, beautiful nature and, in my opinion, the most flavorful cuisine!

I just came back from Thailand and brought pork floss - i love it sooooo much!!! It’s like jerky, but sweeter and the texture is obviously different, I would also highly recommend getting nam prik pao which is Thai chili paste for Tom yum, because it’s very expensive if you buy it outside Thailand, I made Tom yum with this paste for the first time and it tasted amazing! Another one of my favorites that I always always buy is green tea Kit Kat - it is also extremely expensive if you’re getting it from overseas instead of buying in Thailand itself. And last, but not least is lime flavored lays chips - if you’re into sour foods it’s definitely for you - very refreshing! Happy shopping in Thailand 😋 🇹🇭

Luckily Thai groceries are easy to find here in Hong Kong. When it comes to Lay's, the squid "jerky" flavour is my favourite, followed by sweet basil that Pai recommended. Instant noodles are fantastic, too, and I like Nissin's tom yum goong flavour stir noodles very much. If you think the tom yum goong Pretz doesn't pop, the noodles will satisfy you. Coconut crisps are just as great. I haven't tried a lot of brands, but Crispconut isn't bad. Three flavours are available to me, namely original, chocolate and caramel. All of them are delicious, striking a wonderful balance between sweet and salty. The only thing is that the caramel flavour doesn't taste terribly caramelly. BTW, I really hope I'll get to try the banana and tamarind sandwich cookies because I like sour food.

Your husband is right- I remember buying the Thai version of Red Bull in Chinatown in Philadelphia in the mid-90s, and it was drastically different than the carbonated crap we get in North America now. It’s disappointing because I haven’t been able to find the import version of Red Bull since at least the 2000s, and I do miss it. I was so happy to see that iconic bottle shape and classic logo. Enjoyed this episode a lot, thanks for sharing!!

Love your video and of course I stayed till the end. But the ending upset me slightly. I absolutely love Thailand or at least the thought of it I've never been as of yet. What I don't love is Red Bull that stuff is disgusting in my opinion. Had no idea it originated in Thailand and as much as I hate Red Bull I really want to try the version you have.

"crispy chilis" I make the laziji because poor life decisions then wonder where the peppers go? I kept them a bowl then chopped three to put in my pad thai when it calls for chili flake. "banana chip" Cavendish is an inferior banana. Ive never been steered wrong by an old asian lady. She knows Im clueless so I let her boss me around. Grandma says you buy bun. Best bun I ever tasted. She says 2.00 for a banana. but its a special banana. I know about these other banans. She never lies. Theres probably 3 million of them but honesty = integrity. I get asepso soap ordered to my house because Ive never been to thailand and Its illegal here. But I know it comes from thailand from the postage stickers.

8.00 But it is pronounced "larp" (not "larrrb"). If written "lap" it might be confused with an English word! Maybe "laap" is a compromise as it transliterates from "ลาบ" as it doesn't have the "ร" which commonly gets transliterated as an "r" sound.

Have you tried refreshing the crispy squid on a rack in a very low oven to get the crispness back? Idk if it would work if it has sauce on it too, but could be worth trying? Also, side note, I think those Rs in Anglicised versions of Thai words come from phonetic translations being made and standardised by/for the British. We don't use the rhotic R in British English except at the beginning of words, so even though it's on the packaging as "Larb" I (English) would still say it as Laab or lahb. The Brits had our sticky little fingers all over Asia long before the US, so I think we screwed up the phonetics for the North Americans. Add it to the list 💩
