Cool song. Haven't heard this song for awhile. I bought the album on cassette. Played it over & over. These kinds of songs didn't get a lot airplay because of Garth Brooks was huge at the time. This song has melody & words something missing in today's so called country music.

Thanks for putting it on KZbin. I haven't seen that thing in years. It was filmed in a studio in historic downtown Sherman, TX. The man in the video is just as funny in real life, as I remember. Highnrising is right, it was from the early 90's. And I was wrong. It's not Madame Roo, but Madame Roux. Duh, she's Creole. All these years and I never knew I was named after gravy.

@KK-ex5zu5 жыл бұрын
We had a classic country music radio station in our area for about 3 years. They got the boot about a year ago. Anyway, they left the line hooker in the song the 1st 6 months, then one day they replaced it with redhead in Ohio. WTF, hooker isn't on the list of 7 dirty words that the FCC monitors! Either some whinny radical right wing die hard christian mommy or some far leftist mommy probably called in and bitched. I'm just saying people, we need something in between this snowflake feelings being hurt BS in this country!

Everybody seems to forget the more popular cover by Dr. Hook. In fact most everyone thought that was the original, although the original was actually performed by Bobby Borchers as the "B" side of a single in 1977 (the same year Dr. Hook performed it and released it on a compilation album.) This one doesn't do that version justice at all. For one thing, it's in the totally wrong style, much better as a Rock and Roll song. I mean, really, country?

The video is cheesy as only 80's music videos can be, & the guy at the bar does NOT have a "hard & traveled" face. But the song is still great. Radio stations were still playing it in 1993 when I first heard it. (They did in the Midwest, anyway)
