Every year we used to hear a new wave of cynical and snide jokes and comments about Kimcha D’Pischa Distributions.
With the mounting anticipation for Pesach when you and your family are feverishly making preparations for the festive Yom Tov, did you ever take a moment to think about the parallel scenario at the homes of each of the poor recipient families of Kimche D’Pischa; the longing and the hope of being included in the Oneg Shabbos V’Yom Tov Program with its carefully planned all inclusive selection of provisions.
Watch what happens behind the scenes when a Yom Tov package arrives at the home of a needy family in Yerushalayim and just duplicate that image thousands of times over, as you take an inside look at what actually occurs in tens of thousands of homes in Israel, that even for Yom Tov, literally do not have the most basic and essential food products to put on their table.
This video has been produced by Friends of Oneg Shabbos V’Yom Tov in USA, in order to open your hearts and make you more aware that unfortunately, even in the 21st century, there is still rampant poverty in Eretz Yisroel and to see for yourselves the genuine plight of Achienu Bnei Eretz Yisroel.
This scene is what took place in just one of the 10,000 homes whose Pesach was made possible and enhanced by The Oneg Shabbos and Yom Tov Pesach Distribution. Just visualize that this emotional response is duplicated more than 10,000 times and the ripple effects in and around the homes of the appreciative recipients of the Greater Family of Oneg Shabbos V’Yom Tov.

Giving short term Tzeddakah relief is commendable and great, but what these people (and all poor people) ultimately need is a job- a means for self reliance. When we get back to the Torah idea of work and actually the highest form of Tzeddakah being giving someone a job, then these problems will only get greater since this population is growing (having many kids) with their parent's refusing to work

The video is saying to all Jews not to forget to give more charity these days to the poor as a commandment. The men learn and earn also a living but sometimes they don't have enough during YOM TOV. G-d ordains who is rich and who is poor. It is a life cycle. That person may one day be rich but to remind him one day to give and not forget where he was before.

We Jews are commanded to help the poor during our YOM TOV- holy days. Read Leviticus 23. Our high holy days is not complete by not giving to the poor. They are not relying on welfare and this video is in Eretz Israel. People have donated and pooled the monies to bring joy, cheers and blessings to others.
